When it brings you instantly back to the lobby, you can fix this by being host. From what I read here, it's happening to you because you can't connect to your partner. Sometimes, one can't connect to his friend but his friend could. Try switching host and invite your friend. Or if you're host, try being invited in his party.

You might also want to check out your NAT settings (Network Allowed Transfer). You have to change specific settings inside the router or inside your computer, in order to make your NAT ''Open''. It will allow more communication and will fix connection trouble between you two.

Notice that both of you might want to check this up. If you don't have access or don't know how, don't try it though.

''Game Timed Out'' or ''Connection Failed'' happened to me way too often.

For example, it's not in Sniper Elite, but me and 2 of my friends, we were trying to join in the same lobby. But as I was the host, only 1 of my friend could connect on me. The rejected player always had : ''Connection to the game failed.'' So we changed host, and I had the same issue with the newly-host player (the same guy having trouble connecting to me).

So he gave the host to my other friend. The new host wasn't having any trouble communicating, so we made him host, so me and my friend could join in the lobby on him (because he was host, even if me and the other guy were having trouble connecting to each other). And we played without any trouble.

It almost always depends on the NAT, specific settings inside your router allowing a wide traffic or a small one. Small traffics will likely cause these connectivity issues.

NAT is "network address translation". Simplified, it means it translates the IP from the outside address of your router (WAN IP) to your internal LAN IP.

I cannot find anything online specifically stating what ports to forward for SE3. I had these ports 21540 and 54468 - UDP forwarded for previous SE games.
