Explosion Mechanics
Hi All

How in gods name can I still alert the enemy, when the explosion is drowned out by an anti aircraft machine gun or plane. Surely if I fire on an explosive barrel, then the explosion shouldnt alret anyone if its being drowned out by something else. I dont fully alert them so they attack. An orange circle appears above their head which means their suspicious. But I still dont understand how they could possibly hear the explosion.

Yours.
Lee.

Area sound silencing effects, the pulsing vibration effect shown in the upper right corner of your combat screen,is only effecting those of the enemy, that are near to your position. The enimies at a large distance from location, will still hear the sound, but due to distance, objects between you and them, and simple time distortion over the weather conitions, they will have a hard time locating your location.Remember,if you FIRED a gun to target a barrel, they will first hear your shot, then hear the barrel exploding. If you fired your gun DURING a sound effect, those nearby enimies will NOT here the shot, they will hear the barrel exploding.

Hi triplanesubs739

Got you. So I would still alert them by the barrel exploding. Isnt there a way NOT to alert them by the barrel exploding. Surely during the sound effect the explosion would also be drowned out. Is it that it takes to long to blow up or does the enemy see it. Or is it because the explosion is to loud.

Also.....

Can you get bullet-time when firing upon explosive barrels or does that just work with the jeeps petrol tanks. Also sometimes bullet-time dosnt even work. I line up the shot, taking distance and wind direction into account and fire, and still no bullet-time. All I end up doing is Incapacitating them and alerting them.

Hi triplanesubs739

Sorry to be a nuisance. I cant see any pulsing vibration effect in the upper right corner of my combat screen. Does this only appear if you are using the sniper rifle. Is it something I have to turn on in options.

Hi triplanesubs739.

Duh! Sorry. Disregard my previous post. I found something to do with VIBRATION in my options. However, it is set to OFF and I cant alter it because VIBRATION is greyed out. Is this option only available on a different difficulty setting.

edit:

God! I am as thick as two short planks. The VIBRATION setting is only available if I have a controller. Seen as I have a PC, mouse and Keyboard it wont work. Correct?

Well, since I also run a PC,and the sound "Vibration" signal in the upper right corner of the screen HAS BEEN THERE in both SEv2 and SEv3,then there's something else you have "turned off" in your haste to operate the game,or do you have your "STUPID" switch turned on when playing PC games.

The vibration effect is keyed to both X-one and PS4 style controllers.Don't forget that there are PC gamers who also use X-One and PS4 compatable controllers on PC games.I find that I'm "all thumbs" when trying to play a game with a game controller, must be because I've been using a keyboard and mouse for the last 20 plus years !!!

Assuming that you're referring to the visual indicator that displays when ambient sounds are supposed to mask your shots, it should show regardless of which weapon is in hand. Whether or not non-sniper shots are masked I have no idea, as I've never tried it that way.

ALL shots, whether they're sniper shots or non sniper shots are masked by background sounds, but only in the imediate area. Most people will heard shots from you as background shots, but will have a tough time figuring out what direction and even how far you are from there present position. In the American Civil War,they found that sounds will carry as much as 30 miles, but at times ,you could be as little as 20 yards away, and still not know just where the sound was coming from !!!
