Ending shot bug with gewehr?

No matter where I am I can't seem to take that elevator down with the gewehr. Is there a bug with this? I'm talking about "take the shot and detonate the charge"

Right, I'm guessing you're near the end of the game, and you've just been in the "Ratte" factory. So, go through the gates and out into the canyon - making sure you've made the elites lives more interesting by killing all of them first. Follow the rock face on your right until you come to a path which leads up to the sniper's nest. Enter the nest and look up, you'll see the elevator packed with shells. On the upper cables that hold the elevator is a small box shaped thing that's glowing red, that's the charge you need to hit. The gewehr will do the job. Oh and by the way, the sniper nest is the ONLY place you can take the shot from.

also cant hit the bracket with the gewehr from the sniper spot :( ?
