Running Google Chrome Browser in Background Solves Perfomance Issues
I was skeptical about the Registry fixes, and I heard about the "Chrome fix", so I decided to do a small experiement. I reversed the registry changes, and lauched the game. Instant 20 FPS (as measured by Fraps) on the first level again. This is with a GTX 770 (latest 331.58 Drivers) and a Core i5-3550.

Closed the game. Opened the Google Chrome broswer and minimized the window, reloaded DX:HRDC and it's BACK TO a smooth 60 FPS (w/V-Sync on)

Try it. This explains why performance was so good the first time I ran the game, but horrendous the second time. I had Chrome open in the background the first time I ran the game! Otherwise, how possibly could performance change that dramtically? I've never seen that before.

I am not techical enough to know why this is the case, but I just tested and verified that simply having Chrome open in the background fixes the performance issues WITHOUT having the edit your Registry. Would love your feedback, thanks! :UT2004health:

I'd really like to hear an explanaion about why this works.
Wow....How does this work? Cause its working for me

When I first played, I had around 20 Tabs open in Chrome and was getting 150 FPS. Upon exiting, I had 20Ish

Using an I5 4670K / GTX 760

Probably because Chrome uses GPU to render the browser, Its called Hardware Accelaration

That doesn't explain how Chrome make DE:HR run faster.
I have firefox open all the time, and I haven't seen any major slowdown like you guys are having. Maybe web browsers are the key? I also have a 550ti.:plane:

hmmm, this seems to be working indeed. Thanks for the tip.

That has got to be one of the weirdest bugs I've ever heard of.

Everyone with low framerate issues should at least give this a shot. Running Google Chroome doesn't fix everyone's game, but luckily it helped mine out.

SUPER odd to be sure. I did do the registry fix, but really, why should we have to edit the registry to fix a problem with a game. So that's why I reversed the reg changes back to normal settings, and tried this.

This was already mentioned by some more techy guy in another thread. Chrome sets a flag that puts windows memory handling in a higher performance state (or something..) In theory setting the powermanagement setting in the nvidia profile to high performance should have the same effect.

Why Deus Ex doesn'T set the flag itself now ... good question..

So do you have the reg edit fix also, or reverse that back to normal

No I put it back to normal. No reg edit fixes. Only running Chrome in the background.

Interesting, if that's all it takes then the patch should be an easy fix.

Maybe not the memory, but it enables higher timer resolution, which can also help. Chromelike browsers seem to know how to access timer resolution in windows.

P.S It seems once again I'm wrong. It's vice versa - lower resolution means higher performance.

There must be an issue at the moment with memory or data allocation. That's my thinking for it.

With Chrome open, the data used to run that must somehow need the same data as DEHR which would explain how you can run the game better rather than stressing it further.

I'll give it a shot, and try running Razor Game Booster. The FPS drop at the moment isn't too bad for me, but it's noticeable. I am annoyed a system I built in February this year, struggles to play this yet plays Tomb Raider, Sleeping Dogs, Civ 5, GW2, Far Cry 3 and Blacklist at max settings.
