Has the SSAO been downgraded?
I remember that Deus EX HR had a pretty good SSAO but now in the Director's Cut is sometimes rendering a weird sprayed aura in the walls.

In the head-to-head comparison screenshots I've been seeing, SSAO seems to be incredibly simplified along with bloom/HDR, and other lighting & shadowing.

People are positing that post-process FX are simply bugged at this point. I'd be inclined to agree at this point. The idea that this all isn't broken but is by design is saddening.

Same here. Oh man, this Director's Cut is just a mess :/

IIRC one of the patches for the original game claimed to improve the SSAO quality and since it appears the DC is based off the unpatched game these improvements seem to be missing.
I think that the removal the sort of orange filter was genius, but Ambient occlusion seems to be lacking. Check out the metal doors at 0:56 in this graphics comparison: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGB27zgAcDU

Never minded the yellow filter. Lended a warm, surreal touch to everything. The new neutral color balance is more realistic, but less iconic.
Cool... thanks!

It didn't worked for me. The SSAO is still looking weird with irregular patches (like if it had been sprayed using paint). If I recall correctly, original game SSAO was pretty effective creating homogeneous shadows when needed.
You can check out the above comparison video. I don't see any changes to the shadows at all.

Now a comparison shot of the original game

Notice how the shadow isn't homogeneous?

Hmm... I see your point. But check out the light reflections on the metal doors and the vent above them. That's a worse change I think.

That's not a solution, FXAA is well known to blur the image, on my system (690) the vanilla runs very well with MLAA plus SMAA (through injector) and without graphical glitches of any kind.

I think its a fact now that this is bad version of the orginal version, low-res textures messed up colors, frame-rate drops [never had this problem before on the orginal], it looks just bad to me compared to the orginal, graphical wise the orginal looks much more crip and sharper then this version, this version is probabably the ported version of the Wii U or ps3 xbox360 version lol.

If someone says @ this point that the Director's Cut version looks better then the orginal then there is definitely something wrong with your eyes.

If someone still dont believe me here,s the proof

I noticed another difference in that video. When the guy gets the boxes knocked out of his arms, the textures on the right side of the ramp have detail on the original version that the DC doesn't.

Minor, I know, but coupled with all the other issues it feels like this is a worse version than the original, not really worthy of the directors cut name.

Directors cut dosent mean "improved version" it just means what the "director" visualised the movi.. sorry, game as! Just kidding around, all this complaining makes me worried though, havent tried it yet since I'm playing batman atm. But I also was hoping for an improved version all around. But looks like we got a crappier one :/

I think this is the reason why I get more fps on my 650m in DC
