*spoilers* secret area in the lower part of tai yong medical
Hello all, I was wandering aroudn the vents in the lowersection of tai yong medical and found a dead guy above me. around him are scattered pickup-able items (I can't tell exactly what, but one does look like a weapon mod). And I can't find a way to get to him. there is a vent leading up, but its a 6 foot drop, so I dont think I can climb up there (I think its more of a way to get down then anything else). I've looked everywhere on the map before I head up to the main floor, and can't find a ladder, or a vent leading to him (found some rather interesting paths in the process though, that'll be handy on future run throughs).

Does anyone know what I'm talking about, and how to get up there?

I went ahead and posted a screen shot of what I'm looking at.

You need the Icarus Augmentation (the one where you no longer take fall damage). There is no other way of reaching that place.

So let me try and explain this. So you just got to the point where there was a level one hack door, followed by an explosion, and a dude in a hasmat suit pounding on glass asking you to save him. After that a door where a security guard stops you, and in that same room there are two civs talking to each other. While looking at the civs turn slightly right, and there is, I believe, a level 2 panel you can hack, do so, a the button right by it should now be useable. After pressing the button, you may see the upper catwalk moving. Now from the button you pushed, turn left, and go out that door. Turn right after going through the door and you'll see a ladder. Climb, follow the path to the end of the catwalk, and through the door, turn right, there is the vent leading to the Icarus drop point which leads down to the body, and then further down to the security room.

And that's how you do that, assuming of course that we're talking about the same thing.

Yea I invested in the icarus landing system really early on. and I am so glad I did. Mainly because I can just jump off roof tops whenever I please. but this is also awesome!

Edit: ok zara, thats the wrong one. the one I'm talking about has a dead scientist in it.

2nd edit: wow that makes me sound so callous towards the fact that this guy proboby go lost in the vents, and fell to his death. And whats worse, is no one cared enough about him being gone to crawl around the vents looking for him.

btw, this area is just before the room with the electrified floor. just before that room there is a cage with a breaker box on the right. hack that, go into the vents, and the area is in there. its a giant vent shaft, with a body in it.

There´s actually a different reason for why that guy lies there. Not gonna spoil it, don´t worry, but I wonder how you´re gonna react to it =)
mattig Oct 24, 2013 @ 11:25am
well, I might already have an idea. but its only a theory. so...how do i get to it?
thkim Oct 24, 2013 @ 11:29am
If I´m not mistaken, the reason can be found right next to him, in a PDA. Try combining this with what you have learned so far about Belltower and the Triads and you should figure it out easily.

cool beans thanks.

anyone know how I can get there then?
thkim Oct 24, 2013 @ 11:42am
Let´s see: You said that you´re next to a room with an electrified floor. Now try getting on the upper catwalk, where you will find another vent. You might need a box in order to reach it; it´s left from the big elevator, if you look straight at it. Once inside, continue until you reach the end, then fall down (here´s where you need the Icarus augmentation). You should find a way out from there, too, so don´t worry.

This was just from memory, though, so if I said anything wrong, please correct me.

Okay yeah, wrong one. So for this one, in the room with the electrified floor, you need to get to the top of the stack of stuff to your left, and follow that catwalk to the ladder and climb up, then up there you need heavy lifting to move the big box on teh right side of the room (right as you are looking at the big elevator door) and move it to the left side under the vent. Now you either need to also get the small box to build a staircase, or you can use the high jump to get on top of that box, then Icarus fall to the body.

And here I thought I had explored every nook and crany of this place. I, quite litterally, was looking in every corner of the catwalk for 3 hours for that vent. *face palm*

Edit:
woa, hold on. Tai Yong is working with the harvesters? or have the harvesters just infiltrated Tai Yong?

Either way, thats big.

The way I understood it, it´s the latter. Though it is left a bit ambiguous on purpose, I feel that it´s pretty clear the guy was working in secret with the Harvesters, smuggling stuff for them, and when Belltower found out, they were not pleased. At all.

I feel so bad for those watching this thread that don't want spoilers because the non-blacked out stuff is so tantilizing.

so why would they stick the email saying they captured someone on him then? it looked like the guy found a harvester stealing supplies, held him for questioning, shot the security guy an email about it, the harvester overpowered him, and threw him down a vent shaft to keep it a secret.
thkim Oct 24, 2013 @ 12:22pm
I have to admit, that thought didn´t cross my mind so far. It would make sense, but it would also raise the question why no-one would be looking for him or why there´s all that stuff around him. If we are to assume that Belltower and Tai Yong just don´t give a damn about him (and they really don´t give a damn about a lot of stuff), and that the harvester left in such a hurry that he would not take that stuff with him, that might explain it. Still, you would think that there would be some worry about a stranger in the building and some tighter security as a consequence, but everyone´s pretty non-chalant about it.

I really need to play this again, just to refresh it. That´s my temporary conclusion ^^
