But on my second try I managed to unlock it. I only picked up some energy bars and hacked one level 1 system. I left the praxis kits and weapons alone and didn't throw the barrel.
No idea why I didn't get it the first time.
I succeeded throwing only 3 boxes and a extinguisher, ONLY.
He didn't pick up ANY item at all except quest items (Energy Cell and Eye) and throw a couple of boxes and a fire extinguisher once (!). He avoided all enemies and KO only the Burke's team. And he got it after finishing speaking with Quinn but before entering stasis pod or getting his items back.
Rather pissed, since I'm doing the entire thing on Give Me Deus Ex in a Pacifist run again, and wanted to get every achievement in a single run. Which should have been possible, except it hasn't awarded me Factory Zero.
Like the first time I did FZ, I haven't fired a gun, thrown a grenade, dropped a mine, or even used an explosive barrel. I haven't touched my augs at all, except for near the end where I saved just before meeting Quinn for the last time and purchased the CASIE mod, and reloaded my save after getting That Old Adage.
Oh, well. At least I've got a save at the start of the ML section, and can do a rush through on easy afterwards for that achievement.
Had a very interesting - if not entirely pleasant! - surprise on the Namir boss fight. In DXHR, you could run around the wall to your left immediately after spawning, and Namir would vault the wall to follow you. If you stood where he was landing, you could do a takedown on him and end the fight immediately.
Glad to see they fixed that! Got a kick in my face for the trouble (Namir being a very agile boss) but was certainly fun to try it!
The Namir fight was especially supportive of all possible augment setups - so many ways to take him down with the new level.
Often the Pacifist achievement not being received can be contributed to an enemy (knocked out or not) being killed by electrified water (sewers) or setting off a frag mine near the vicinity, i.e. in Panchea. Another instance where a death may occur is when you return to Hengsha where you and Malik are shot down and you blow up the box robot with an EMP grenade, thus resulting in the robot self-destructing. If you knocked out one of the enemies near that robot and didn't move them away, it could cause their death. I always double check any enemy/punk/civ that I knock out if they are dead before I move on. It will save you the frustration later.
I checked everyone as I went, and nobody died except bosses. I've done it at least twice before on the normal DXHR (and done FZ without kills in Missing Link - the standalone version - at the same time as Apex Predator, All of the Above, and all the ML achievements at once) so I know what is required for Pacifist, and what will break it. I did a couple of save reloads during, but even when playing the Missing Link section I stuck to Pacifist restrictions *on top of* Factory Zero restrictions. Didn't receive either of the achievements though.
Doing it all again, but just skipping everything skippable. Letting Malik die, doing bosses the fastest way possible etc. Still taking a while.
(Finished, finally. I'd never let Malik die before - it was hard watching her get shot!)
