What does the peps do?
Hello all,

I was trying to do a no alarms run on the deus ex difficulty, but that because very tedious very quickly. So, I figured I'd try a no kills run on deus ex difficulty instead. Turning out to be much more fun.

Part of this is carrying non-leathal weapons, and the 1 gun you bring up against boss fights (I'm going with machine pistol). I just got the peps, and I'm not sure how to use it. Does it just knock people over? Does it stun them? Is i the one non-leathal weapon in the game good against groups? Does it have a moderate range to it?

The peps gun is perfect for non-lethal crowd control, and yeah, it doesn't kill them, it just knocks them out, i believe it's mid range

I believe you gotta hit them directly if you want to knock them out, you can always get yourself in a combat situation, test it out, then reload a save

It's like a shotgun version of the stun gun. However some targets that wear armor may have to take more than one hit. At least that's been my experience with it. Oh and it doesn't seem to work to well on the big robots, for those you're going to want EMP grenades.

It can still people by knocking them over ledges or their unconscious bodies getting hit by objects or hitting edges. I killed a lot people with the PEPS gun. Overall I'd recommend pairing Pacifist with Foxiest Hounds. Foxiest Hounds is the easiest to get of both.

It's a very funny and useful non-lethal weapon, by itself, sadly enough knocked out people tends to die if hit by dumspters thrown with enough joules, usually even by cardboard boxes, not a fault of the weapon, though.

Close enough it's very useful to render unconscious a couple of NPC a time if for whichever reason you shouldn't already have the double take-down augmentation, it can even stun multiple enemies in the medium range for a decent amount of time.

Practice is still the best way to understand how it works, though.

Personally, I did not use PEPS. I did a pacifist run and kept it in my inventory, but never used it. I prefer to sneak around people using cloak than knock them out. I guess it could be useful for clearing rooms, but it is loud, and other's might hear you. The double take down augment is probably a better option.

I find the best use of Peps is to fire it into a group of people to knock them all down, then help them back up by tossing a frag mine right in the middle of them.

Not very pacifistic, but then neither am I.

Nah, this way you split them too much, a frag mine in the middle of the group works a lot better and saves time, the more compact they are the bigger the bang.

The PEPS is very fun to shoot closest as possible at the back of unaware ones.

Read the ingame description of the PEPS, and it says the gun generates a sonic "Blast wave", something like a Concussion Grenade Launcher. It primarily knocks down opponents, but by side-effect objects like crates ore the like may hit somebody and render him unconcious. Indeed a fun weapon with potential to... ah... experiment with...

Knocks them out cold at close range. Knocks them down (but not out) from further away.
