Is performance bad?

I want to play this game again but I'm going to need to play it from the beggining since I left off like halfway several months ago. I've read that this game has some performance issues though. Are they fixed or are they still present?

I have a pretty good PC (runs games like BF4 at ultra 1080p with 70+ frames) so maybe it wont be an issue?

framerate on this directors cut version is just awful, it stopped me from playing ;\ i love the game though

Sucks a bit, but I've heard many of the problems are tied into Direct X 10 version of the game.

Switch down to 9, and it's a much smoother experience.

I've found a fix! :) if you google it up it's easy to find, it runs near perfect now, only FPS drop when changing areas as normal

That's... Vague. How about posting a link or something? I don't have these issues but I'm sure those that do would be annoyed with what you just said.

There is a guide that talks about it here on Steam. There are 3 registry edits to make.
It doesn't solve the problem but it does help a lot.

The Directors Cut is not as smooth as the original, that's for sure but it's playable none the less.
