Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut

What engine does this game use?
I've looked on google and i can't find anything. Mostly just curious but also would like to mess with the engine if possible.

"Deus Ex: Human Revolution is built upon a modified Crystal engine from Square Enix subsidiary Crystal Dynamics. The engine itself was initially designed for the Tomb Raider franchise in 2006, but has been updated, and heavily modified for Deus Ex: Human Revolution. DirectX 11 support has been added, featuring tessellation, SSAO, and post-processing features by way of DX11's DirectCompute technology."

They should switch to Unreal Engine 4 or build there own new engine as this one is pretty damn old and should be phased out the Crystal engine have had its time.

But what was Unreal Engine 4 based on? An older one, they might just be able to do a few things like: increase texture ressalution, add tessaltion, add mantle/dx 12 support. Using another companies engine costs money, and writting an engine from scratch takes more time and money.

This refers to the original (where SSAO and post-processing and DX11 actually worked). This is a port.....is it the same engine?

Yes. It's a newer version of the engine AFAIK. Porting a game to an entirely different is quite infeasible.

Maybe in a remaster of this game but Unreal Engine 4 wasnt a thing when this game was released/worked on.

AFAIK it is older version, cuz they lost the sources for the original game and only had resources from WiiU version which has older engine without fixes
