Defeating Namir in Director's Cut?
I have tried a score or more times to kill Namir, with different combinations and strategies, but nothing seems to work. I have scoured the internet, to no avail. I have two rounds of 500 for the laser rifle. 20 for the tranq rifle, and 300 for the combat rifle. They each have a couple of mods (except for the laser rifle). I also have 1 EMP mine, 2 frag mines, and 2 gas mines. In addition I have 8 EMP and 4 concussion grenades. I also have a bunch of stim paks and candy bars. I can also take a turret up to the boss with me but that doesn't really do anything. I have an earlier save, so I can switch mine combos around as well. Unfortunately, I got the "upgraded" bio-chip in Hengsha, so I can't use any augmentations. Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. I have a ton of Preaxis points, if that changes anything.

I take the turret in the lift and turn right and drop it.Run up the stairs and get into a vent so you can take pressure off while you nut it out.Once you find the room find sec console and let robots out. That helps a lot.

Believe me I would, but since I can't use any augmentations, I can't move any objects, open vents, or hack anything. Even the auto hack machine doesn't work.

So I played this damn part earlier today and couldn't use my augs either, it was pretty damn frustrating. I usually just sneak around and have my silenced pistol on me so this could have been even more of a disaster. Fortunately I had brought that laser weapon as I intended to sell it.

I died so damn many times but I eventually managed to kill him with the laser weapon. You just need to be patient and hide behind a pillar or something and shoot the him. Whenever he throws grenades just run away and then run back behind the cover and continue shooting him. He will die after about two mags/ammo of laserfire. It felt surprisingly fast when he eventually died.

Also don't forget to pick up the lasergun ammo in the displaycase in one of the upper rooms. Even though I couldn't hack and open it I could still pick up all the ammo and the ammo from the weapon inside if I crouched infront of it.

I just finished the entire game now just minutes before checking the forum here. Woo! :D Awesome game even if the director's cut was a bit wonky. :)

Good luck!

Thanks, but as luck would have it I also finished the game an hour before you posted. I hit him with a few EMP, gas, and frag mines, then spammed EMP grenades and laser/combat rifle until he died. I just ran around that room on the second level with the 4 statues, and that worked out. Now starting my second playthrough on Give Me Deus Ex. :)

I own original version and played it twice so far. I also had a difficulty to defeat bosses back then when I played the game for the first time. On second playthrough I was getting into boss fights better equipped. Actually, I defeated the first boss literally in seconds. You just have to carefully aim directly at his head. And as for Namir, he couldn't withstand three consecutive hits from my grenade launcher so the fight was over before it started. I didn't expect to defeat him literally in seconds because I remember dying constantly on my first playthrough. By the way, this time around I didn't fall into the trap of upgrading my bio-chip but this didn't matter because I didn't even get to use my augmentations - 5 seconds later Namir was dead.

It's funny, because if you are clever, you won't get the "update" in Shanghai 2nd visit, and then your augmentations work...

All bosses are actually a question of hitting the Typhoon key once or twice (fully upgraded). That's 3 praxis points which you need to invest to make bosses piece of cake.

In the original, I disliked the bosses because of the lack of options the game gave you to defeat them. In the Director's Cut, I actually quite enjoyed fighting them. So much so that after each fight I reloaded a save to figure out all the different ways the game would let you win. So while the Typhoon is a viable option, it would detract from your experience overall.
