Where my ammo go in TML?
I’m attempting a speedrun of Director’s Cut on Story difficulty and before I get to the DLC I normally grab the laser rifle behind Tong for later, with 500 ammo inside of it. Once I get into the DLC and get my kit back, it gives me my laser rifle but with no ammo, even at the end where they give you your stuff back. What gives? Is it a difficulty thing or what? I’ve seen coyotl’s WR run and he gets his stuff back with full ammo. Maybe there’s a bug or patch that goofs it?

That's not a bug, it's actually intended.

I recently played through Missing Link myself, and when I went to get my equipment at the start, all of my weapons had 0 ammo. However, none of it is lost for good, because you can pick all of your ammo and grenades back up near the end of the chapter.

See that's what I was starting to think too, but my buddy recommended a fresh new save file instead of the one I was using, and I actually had ammo in my laser rifle when I recovered it. However when I used that save for a second run it did the thing again not giving me ammo. I'm about to do a run with a fresh save and see if I can repeat it, maybe a coding error in the game?

This is another reason why the Grenade Launcher isn't really worth taking, IMO.

You get your weapons back pretty early in TML, but all of the ammo that was loaded inside the weapons themselves are gone for good. You only get the spare ammo you had that wasn't loaded in any of your firearms at the end of the DLC, meaning you can lose SIX rounds for the Grenade Launcher and up to 900 cells for the Laser Rifle if it was maxed.
