Missing Link alarm bug
So I decided to give this game another playthrough recently and I wanted to complete it without being spotted. That's been going pretty well, until now.

I'm right about in the middle of the Missing Link DLC (Rifleman Bank Station) and my current objective is to retrieve Burke's eyes. Whenever I enter the area around Burke's office or the loading bay, the alarm just goes off for seemingly no reason whatsoever. Being cloaked changes nothing.

My first thought was 'huh, must have found a body' but that isn't the case because I can sit comfortably in a ventilation shaft for hours without any patrols finding anything. It's like there's a net of invisible, cloak-ignoring lasers everywhere except the first level of the southeastern area, the maintenance level and the interrogation wing.

Strangely, this bug only started occurring after I returned from the interrogation wing. Prior to that, I was able to enter and leave Burke's office and the loading bays without incident.

Two new guards spawn on the second floor when you return for Burke's eye. They probably spotted a body where they spawned, and sounded the alarm. If you have a save before going to the morgue, you should load that and go back to move any bodies out of the hallways (both the second floor and the hallway below, because the guards can see through the floor grates).

No, that isn't it. I can sit in the vent that leads to Burke's office and watch that pair of guards on my minimap. It's only when I come out of the shaft and enter into the room that the alarm gets triggered. The same goes for the staircase leading up to the second floor - I can take cover behind the wall, look out into the corridor and watch those two patrol, but as soon as I step out into the open (cloaked or not) the alarm sounds.

The thing is, unless you fail a hack, cross a trip wire, or break a trip wire or camera, the only way the alarm could sound would be if a camera spots you for too long or a guard uses an alarm panel. I've never heard of a bug like this before, where the alarm just spontaneously activates (and I've played the DLC twice and the DC at least three times). Did you hack all the alarm panels beforehand to disable them? If a guard on the second floor didn't trigger the alarm, and you took out everyone else before going to the interrogation wing, it's got to be one of the 3 guards that spawn on the first floor that's sounding the alarm (at least 2 are near the elevator, I forget where the third one is).

I still think the answer is to load a previous save before the morgue and move bodies out of any of the hallways just to be safe.

I haven't taken out everyone - only four people at this point, and their bodies are all in ventilation shafts. I also haven't hacked any of the alarm panels, so it's quite possible that some random gaurd somewhere is pressing the button but it still doesn't add up.

I tried reloading a save from earlier to no avail. Same result.

The alarm only triggers upon crossing a specific boundary, which implies that something (ie a guard about to touch an alarm panel) is being loaded. That, however, does not make sense because DE:HR relies on loading screens and not the on-the-fly, chunk-based loading that most modern games use.

I am befuddled.

I'm having the same thing happen in the same area as well. I have only taken out ONE guard, the one that patrols right outside in the hallway of the bio scan coming from the dtetntion wing, and only because he was stuck in palce looking in my direction. I took his weapon and moved the body, and the guard next to Burk's office was also stuck though i managed to free him.

So now when I attempt to approach the office the camera seems to notice something and goes straight to "Alarmed" state instead of being suspicous first. I figured I'd actually try going around through loading bay 2 but as soon as I exit the double doors under the turret same thing happens, even though I'm nowehere near any cameras or anyone that could notice me.
So yea.. ♥♥♥♥.

Only thing that's changed is that I'm now on Windows 10 Pro N instead of Win7
I've had and still have some issues with it on other games like GTA V and IV so that's the only cause I could think of.
I'll try to rememeber to report back here when I get around to installing a different version in windows though.

I'm experiencing the same bug and it drives me nuts. Not a single guard was harmed by me, because I'm using the cloak augmentation ALL the time and the alarm is still triggered as soon I get to the floor where Burkes office is. Lastly, I tried to knock out every guard on the map and piled the bodys in a vent and the alarm still got triggered, apparently by freaking ghosts.

After all the issues I've been hearing and the affected people saying they have Windows 10, I'm so glad I didn't downgrade upgrade.

As I mentioned above, 5 guards spawn in the admin sector when you go to the morgue, so that won't mean a thing if the bodies are still seen through grates.
I actually managed to avoid triggering that bug (?). Instead of going top-floor I stayed on the first floor, you know, right below Burke's Office and attracted all the guards by jumping and shooting tranq-darts at walls. Then I hid the bodys in the vents. (And no they couldn't be seen through grates, a little bit more faith in my intelligence, please :) )After that, I entered Burke's Office through the cable tunnel, there you can turn off the cams. The code for the hatch was 5768, I think, but you can find it on a shelf in one of the offices. Eitherway, I got the eyes, crawled back through the cable tunnel and no alarm was triggered EVER... still no Achievment though. :(

I replaed the whole thing and I think I've narrowed down the problem to the guard that gets stuck pretty much consistently as you're exiting the detention wing bioscanner.
I managed to get him stuck in a postion where I could sneak past him and so in total I knocked out just the one guard in the tower, and no alarm glitch.

Seems to me that if he gets stuck in a postion where his knocked out body would be seen by the above camera, even though it's not there anymore, trigers the alarm at specific points.

Either way, it's possible to get around the problem by touching nobody :D: That section is buggy for sure.. on windows 10 at the very least by the looks.

I would just hack the alarm panels, even for fun. Isanly funny when they paniced and try to alarm, but the panel is not responding. I managed to get both Pacifist and Foxiest achievements.

They don't even use them, not even the cameras are triggerd by anything. The alarm just goes off... :D
