Going back to Sarif Industries

does anyone know if there is anything I need to get on the first visit (first proper mission) that won't be there anymore the next time you go to sarif industries HQ?

Shouldn't be. Just don't leave for another city until you've completed all the side quests. I don't want to give too much info but investigate when you can and the game will warn you before you leave anyway.

There are only a couple things that will change between missions at Sarif. When you start the game at Sarif you want to get to the first proper mission fast because it is timed. In the Sarif building are 2 areas where items spawn and will change between missions.

There is a vent downstairs on the way to the helipad with loot at the bottom, and in the back of the helipad down the shaft is a level 5 hack i think with loot. This changes between missions so you can loot the 2 areas, and after major missions the loot will change to new stuff so you can go back again. This short description from my FAQ


You'll start the regular game in the lobby of Sarif Industries. QUICKSAVE.
This first visit is timed, if you take too long to leave you will jeopardize
the next mission, so follow my instructions quick and efficient to get you
out as fast as possible.

Go straight through the lobby and up the stairs. Take a right and enter the
Tech lab. Take the [CREDIT CHIP] on the sofa and the [PROENERGY BAR] on the
desk. Read the EBOOK (200 EXP). Talk to PRITCHARD for 150 EXP. Confront him
while you talk to get some more info. When you are finished run around to the
other side of the 2nd floor to the cafeteria/helipad doors and enter. There
is a [BEER] and [MAGAZINE] in the cafeteria. Instead of heading right outside
to the helipad, head left and down the stairs. Continue left and you'll see
a VENT on the left near a vending machine. Enter it and at the ladder climb
down for 200 EXP and get the [CREDIT CHIP] and [POCKET SECRETARY]. Head back
out the vent, go down the hallway past the stairs and exit the door to the
helipad. Talk to our babe pilot MALIK to leave (150 EXP).

Not really, just go to your office, go get your vision fixed, and go to the mission. And then take your sweet time when you are back after the mission.
