Sticky "Cover" on Boxes/Walls etc...
Sticky "Cover" on Boxes/Walls etc... the game is literally unplayable with the sticky cover system, toggle or hold does not matter, I am spending 50% of the gameplay trying to get unstuck from auto cover positions on boxes and walls, just rank amature cover system. Worst part of the forums are the apologists (probably the game programmers trying to save face) who say it is a great system. If I want to duck and cover, i will do that, but the game forces me to crouch and cover, usually not behind cover, so you get fragged, but just because you got too close to a box or wall and you are now locked to a wall expossed. Toggle should release immediately, or have cover option to disable cover completly for gamers who know how to move their player without "help" from the game. Big fan of the series, and I'm playing them in order, hope the next game has no forced cover system. Some will say it sounds like a bug, but this is the design of the game, get close to a box, auto cover, even if you are exposed, regardless of hold or toggle option. Poor choice by everyone involved in the game but I am getting through the game by carefully walking through the exact center isle of boxes/aisles, and when auto cover forces crouch/cover, i try to toggle and move both joystick directions to try to get unstuck which seems to work better than the unresponsive toggle, again, pretty amazing that a game company would dumb down the players ability to move their character on their own. 1st person shooters aqre great when you have control. I looked for threads on this, lots of cheerleaders for this amature beginner style of play, sorry, this is just awful but I did not want to spam threads with this rant, so please don't try to convince anyone that this is a great cover systm. My favorite parts of it, zoom in with scope or aim feature, just about to fire when Cover kicks in and hides me behind a box again out of the blue, or try to run and it stops you in the middle of a corridor facing the wrong way hiding in plain sight. Absolutely amazing. I'll try the next game after I finish this one out of principle, but it is very disappointing to have a pretty good game ruind by an auto-cover system that can not be turned off. A patch should be made asap to avoid losing every fan of the series. I started playing the series since day 1, love it. I'd rather see a fix then avoid the series, game is very good except for cover system. Any fixes or info is appreciated but I'm not stupid and I know how to work the controls so don't tell us what we already know, and read on 10 other threads about the issue. Thanks for any useful info and good luck finishing the game with this major handicap.

what? Are you an certified fool by any chance? There is no „Auto cover".
You dont have to use cover at all.
david75sk Aug 16, 2014 @ 10:11am
lmao... use your middle mouse button for aiming, not right mouse button... or remap your controls.
Cozmo Java Aug 16, 2014 @ 1:56pm
no reading comprehension on both comments, joysticks=gamepad, not keys.
Cover happens automatically regardless of settings so you just don't get the point, no way to stop it. don't comment unless you are aware of a bug or glitch, patch or upgrade to fix it. .. unless you are a troll with no manners, then go nuts if you like to spam threads where players are trying to solve problems... not disappointed by the r-tard responses so far, exactly what I expected, zero content or comment on the problem. Keys are lame... no glitch on keys? ok, good for you....

this appears to be a bug for some gamepad users, cover will happen everytime you are close to a box or wall even if you have toggle on of or hold to cover, does not matter. Then it is hard to release from cover. Sometimes toggle will work and back to FPS, other times can not release from cover with toggle or hold setting, does not matter, and player is forced to use both joysticks to try to move out of cover.

Well doesn't seem to be a problem with the game, just your gamepad and controller set up. Why blame the game for lack of a functional setup that you didn't do correctly. Is it a xbox controller? Did you do even the littliest bit of homework to get your gamepad working correctly? I took 5 seconds and found a half dozen posts on how to fix non-xbox controller gamepad problems with the game. How about this one..

looks like you dont know how to play this game, good luck.

still amazed that trolls take the time to comment without recognising the glitch but need to talk smack like a 12 yr old. Saw that thread in the beginning, ligitech is mapped perfectly, cover system jumps to cover on all surfaces if you get close, hard to release from cover like I said 6 times already, but hey, thanks for the non- responses, awesome as usual. Happy trolling obnoxious grammar school kiddie trolls! You are super cool. Thanks again.
Yeah, we're all trolls because we don't agree with you. Bite me.

@Cozmo Java I have no idea how old you are, but if you say you've played this series since day one it would be safe to assume that you're way older than what you're making yourself look like with all of your posts.
1) You clearly have no sense of structure. Reading that first post of yours probably gave me and many others.. cancer.
2) You say it's a game mechanic, when it's clearly not. If it was a game mechanic, the same thing would happen when playing with a mouse and keyboard but clearly this is not the case. You know, I even tried playing the game with a controller and guess what? Worked fine, no "auto-cover". While that doesn't mean that the problem doesn't exist, it does prove that it's not a game mechanic. It has to be a bug then. PC gaming, man. These things happen.
3) If you've really been playing the series since day one, then it's just beyond me why you're playing it as a shooter.
4) So you're actually expecting the devs to read this? Not going to happen, sadly. And I don't think the series is going to die because of a few compatibility mishaps.

I don't think there'll be a patch anytime soon either, if ever. So if you want to play the game, I would suggest trying a different controller or playing with a mouse and keyboard.

PS. I hope you'll (very, very) soon finally grow up and see the irony in your posts.

wow, little kids still calling names instead of commenting on the glithch, I'm know others are having the same problem from similar comments/questions about cover issues, not you of course, but thanks for commenting and adding the snyde commentary, greatly appreciated.... Almost done with the game now, for those of you who read only and are looking for a solution, look away from wall/box, toggle repeatedly, and move both joysticks in several directions, it eventually removes from cover. Keep moving and run when you might get stuck in open cover, seems to work a little better than moving slowly and crouching automatically next to every area of cover. Stand in open areas to use scope on sniper rifle otherwise it jumps to cover while aiming. Best of luck in Mommies basement to all who comment on threads with no constructive info to add. You are awesome and super helpful as always! PS good luck starting the 6th grade, study hard and use your decrypting skills to master the new common core math! Eidos needs good programmers with great attitudes and sparkling personalities like yours!

Shh, let this thread die in peace.

Okay. I think the only one who has reading comprehension issues here is you. You clearly didn't even read my post, even though I tried to make it simple for you. Nowhere in my post did I call you any names, what I did was give you cold, hard facts about the glitch you've been experiencing. It's a compatibility issue that comes with the director's cut. Maybe you would have better luck if you could find a key for the original release.
Honestly, I think it's hilarious how you keep undermining yourself with every one of your posts. Allow me to elaborate. In your first post you said you have been playing the series since day one. In your second post... you said that "keys are lame". FYI, the original Deus Ex didn't even have controller support. Not that there are enough keys on a controller to even play the game properly.
I feel obligated to point out the irony in your posts, since clearly, the only "kid" here is you.

Oh, and are you ready for the last bit that pieces it all together?

You're acting like a little ♥♥♥♥♥ and expecting people to be nice to you. If you don't see what's wrong with that, you clearly have even more issues than you've already indicated with your posts. Have a nice day.

PS. Why the hell are you even using a PC if "keys are lame"?

Yeah, I figured. That was my last post in response to him. I'm done now.
