I heard this game was a downgrade
the reason why I passed on the director's cut

is that I heard that it removed a lot of the graphical filters

(the yellow and gold)

and that the game play was gimped

im sure the yellow filter make the game looks like a literal golden age of augmentation or some sort. but remember, director's cut fix most of the problem the original has. most notably boss fight. it still forced boss fight like before but with many option but in the end it still suck. tbh calling it a downgrade because of missing filter is like calling a cake sucks because it has no cherry on top (i have no better word for that so take it lightly)

Well I might buy it some time I'll never understand why they removed all the gold filters for the director's cut and I wasn't saying that it was bad I was saying I was told that it was bad

I think it's super dumb that you don't want to buy it because it removes something that a ton of people found annoying. And I've seen gameplay of it, I wouldn't be able to stand looking at yellow everything everywhere all the time.

Plus this version fixes bugs.

Like this makes no sense at all, and the game is easily worth $10-20

Either way the graphics of Deus Ex 3 HR were outdated even for 2011, unlike Deus Ex 1's great graphics for 2000. I suggest this mod, it'll make HR look much newer without those huge letters and lines around objects every time you interact with something. https://www.nexusmods.com/deusexhumanrevolution/mods/19

But definetely DON'T waste your time with Deus Ex 4 Mankind Divided. It ignores all choices we make in Deux Ex 3 including endings, story is not interesting, new characters are forgettable and the most stressful moment doesn't compare to what happens in HR.

As for the DC, I've only ever played the original; there seems to be some disagreements as to whether or not the DC is an improvement but HR is such a fantastic game that even if the DC is a little worse, it would still be worth it.

I remember thinking HR looked quite good when I first played it. I thought the amount of detail in the environments and buildings were good for its time. Of course, I was pretty used to older games like Thief.

I would quite disagree that MD is a waste of time. I enjoy both HR and MD mainly for the stealth and exploration mechanics and IMO HR is only slightly better of a game.

I guess I know what I'll be putting on my Deck when it arrives in the summer/fall
Cuz no way I'm clearing 80 gigs on an SSD on my PC for this lol

Honestly I wasn't super impressed with HR, I guess because the OG had so much story. And so much variety to it

surely you can just google and read about the differences

I am actually playing through it on the Deck and it runs and plays amazing. Almost constant 60FPS on max settings. Only in a few open city locations or action fights I had like 50 but still impressive.

Dope! Right on

I be the Deck will continue to get more and more optimized through the end of the year

There is a lot more than just the missing gold filter between the original and the directors cut, you can find a more detailed reasoning somewhere online but basically the directors cut was built from the source code of the Wii U version as opposed to the Pc source code which i believe was xbox and ps3 versions just ported. The issue is the Wii U version had less quality of life updates so many of the bugs that were stamped out of the original version appeared in the directors cut, also there is a graphical downgrade as the wii u version was slightly less detailed in various not so important aspects of the game.
I played both and i can say its not that big of a deal but if there was an option between the current directors cut and a new directors cut based off the source code of the original i would pick that without blinking.

oh noes the piss filter is missing, bad game!

Jokes aside, there is a mod which adds the filter.

I never played the original version. The director's cut has enough yellow in my opinion. Or at least that's how it looked like to me.

Yeah I can't imagine anyone wanting MORE gold/yellow, HR already has it all over, and in bountiful amounts

Jesus Amarillo, with these guys

Do you know what kind of games released in 2011? Dark Souls? Skyrim? Those games haven't aged very well visually at all, while Human Revolution could still pass as an early 8th gen game.

Mankind Divided is good, actually
Did they remove the urine filter? Looks the same to me. I haven't noticed anything removed as of yet. I have noticed the addition of a double-barrel shotgun and remote-detonated mines, though.

Those items were always there, but limited to various retailer versions if you weren't in europe.
