am i screwed?
hey guys,

im stuck at a point where for a main quest, in china, i need to hack a terminal in the hive club that opens a curtain it looks like, but i barely put any stats on my hacking capabilities and so, ive tried to be as fast as i can and using all my nukes and other ♥♥♥♥, and I am nowhere near being able to complete this one?

Am i really stuck here? There's no way such a game breaking thing could have escaped the devs right? Just cause ppl didnt decide to improve their hacking skills, we get ♥♥♥♥♥♥? Oh and before you ask, no i have no praxis points left, and no side quests to fill it up. Did all the side quests up until now. What do i do now? I have no other save of the game i think.

Thanks

I got stuck at that bit as well. It's a level three terminal but it's bizarrely difficult - you have to capture two green nodes in a roundabout way and it's really large.

The only suggestions I have is that there are a few places in Hengsha where you can earn XP by exploring; you could try hacking the storage garages to gain XP; you can also do all of the other missions in Hengsha up to the point you clear Alice Garden Pods and exit to the floof. Obviously if you're playing the Director's Cut you could use an auto-hack grenade.

Remember that if you hit space you pause the intercepting trace for a few seconds, provided you have the right software. Beyond that you can just rely on luck.

You can complete the game without using any augs although you might not mark off every little objective, I certainly completed a run without a single point in hacking, was actually quite fun because hacking removes quite a few obstacles.

Had an apartment door I couldn't hack so I went in the
neighbouring one and stole their fridge to throw at the locked door to bust my way in.

You can buy a few auto hacking devices from vendors which I did on occasion so I could still get praxis kits from certain side missions.

If you're doing the Malik quest it's just a sidequest you can skip.

Unfortunately it's not a side quest. You finished the game without any hack augs? What the hell? How did you go through this part? I bought all the auto hacking devices and used them all prior to this, so I'm screwed.

There is only one mandatory mission in the Hive, where you have to go eavesdrop on the boss from within the air vents. I always do it this way.
  1. Get in the Hive from the hidden air vent outside the building.
  2. One of the stalls in a bathroom(cant remember which) has a pocket secretary with a password
  3. Head to door that leads downstair and use that password
  4. kill/stealh that one guard on duty, get in air vent and eavesdrop on boss
  5. backtrack upstairs and leave using front door

If you want access to Tong you can just do the social battle with the Bartender

If we're on the same page, it's the final stage in Malik's murder-mystery sidequest - it's satisfying to finish it but you can just let it go and carry on with the game. You won't get the XP rewards but at least in story terms Malik already has Lee Hong's confession. In reality he would plead emotional distress and end up in a soft prison for six months, but it's something.

In fact there's one benefit of not completing the quest - that stage ends with Malik replacing the videowall outside The Hive with Hong's confession, but it never goes away so you lose the visual effect of the original Hive graphics.

You can still complete Malik's side quest without hacking the final terminal. Just kill Lee and Malik will scold you for a bit, and give you some exp as quest completion.

You lose out on the Praxis Kit reward though.
Hey guys, sorry for the mixup, played the game again, and it was part of a side quest afterall. SOrry about that. Just ended up killing Lee as Zero suggested. Thanks. Thanks to all of you for all your comments.

One last thing, since I'm already here. I'm supposed to take the train/shuttle to a new area, but it's never showing up, I have waited 20min, restarted the game, verified game files, nothing does it. Anybody else heard of a bug like this? Checked on the pcgamingwiki, and found no such bug.

Thanks

Hey man, I don't see any button. In videos online, the train is comes automatically as you walk into the station and when the doors open you have the choice between ready or not ready. But the train has never showed up.

Do you keep saves?

What do you mean? You're saying the current save file is probably corrupted and I should try another save?

Yeppers, just replaying that part.
