Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut

Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut

Statistiche:
Unplayable on a modern computer
The game is a stutter fest, cutscenes are almost unwatchable and everything else is janky and choppy.

Intel Core i7 5960X
16 GB
GeForce RTX 2080 Ti

I have tried both regedit fixes and also setting the nvidia control panel to fast v-sync. Is there anyway to play this game? Would the mod for golden light and effects fix this?

Thanks!

Why do people always feel the need to show off their specs? You're not the only one with a strong PC, 90% of all Steam users have strong PCs. It is like going to an Olympic weightlifting hangout and bragging about lifting 400 pounds.
because the first anywer will be: your system is too slow.
Pretty much. I would say something is wrong with this person's setup though. I also have a 2080 Ti and the much better 9900K, no issues here at all. The only issue I have had is crashing once during the game and a lot when closing the app. However, that seems pretty standard for this game after doing a search for this. Any mod that you have installed can potentially cause a performance issue.

Well his cpu will be bottlenecking the 2080 anyway. Not by much but still....
Annnnnd not in this game. His system can handle this game easily.

Lol, wut, mate?

It's a perfectly standard troubleshooting practice to post your specs. If anything, the above is too modest/brief. (Windows version, ram speed, a few others would be useful.) It's often THE fastest way to know what's wrong. It's not flexing, it's letting your... mechanic if you will, know in advance if they're going to work on a Volvo Amazon or a DUWK.

XXX

To OP, yeah might be your specs being too good in this case, this game is getting a bit old, after all. Try creating a desktop short-cut and use the compatibility mode.

https://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch001894.htm

Win 7 or Win XP is usually good modes to aim at first.

If you still keep having trouble, you might want to try using the Task Manager to limit the game to using only one or two cores.

Hope that's a start, at least!

I have just been seeing way too many of these "spec show offs" on these steam forums. I know most of the time it is to say "take a look at my card." I have a good card too, I dont need to go and post it into forums.

Right well, first things first: Piss off. You're useless. Someone has come in with a problem, listed their specs and what they have tried to fix the issue, and you come in with your attitude?

Piss off - You're worse than corona right now. You are so far beyond useless it's not funny and all you are doing is hurting things. At least a waste of space can be used for storage - You're less than that right now
I played for 47 hours without any stutters or crashes on 4k settings. Is my computer modern? I think so, but you decide:

CPU: Intel i7-7700k, OC to 5.0 GHz
RAM: 32Gb, DDR4 3200
Graphics card: Nvidia 1080 Ti

If you agree that my computer is modern, then I disagree with your post title. Maybe you should change it to: "Unplayable for me on a modern computer".
i have some issues with Mankind Devided.

but this one runs with default settings on AMD (gpu & cpu).

maybe try win7 compatibility ?!

could be something else is running in the background.
what kind of drive are you using ? ssd ?

could be that newer hardware causes problems, you never know.

I had issues in MD until I changed from DX12 to DX11. After that, all good except some stuttering in the interrogation room area of TF29 base.
As i heard - original release suffered from the same issues but it was fixed with patches. DC using unpatched build as its base, so yeah it stutters a lot, nothing we can do about it and publisher never cared to fix this mess.

Same problem. Made some tests.
4770k 32gb, AMD RX 580
and MacBook 15 - GeForce 750m 2gb
regedit, directx and etc - all done
SSD

4k 60p run smooth where game is not loading another part of level
Most problems in city and not missions

---

Macbook (Win10 + GeForce, medium settings): regular small lags
(not tested mac version - not working in latest mac os)

PC 4770 RX 580 (no matter 800x600 or 4k):
- WIN10 + Latest AMD Drivers, DX11 - a lot of lags in zones where is game streaming data
- WIN10 + Latest AMD Drivers, DX9 - just unplayable
- WIN7 + Latest AMD Drivers, DX11 - unplayable, even menu hard to use
- WIN7 + Latest AMD Drivers, DX9 - a lot of lags in zones where is game streaming data
- WIN10 + 2017 may drivers, DX11 - regular small lags

DEHR (not DC) in Steam: small difference in fact (!)

Ancient XBOX360 with low speed HDD - NO LAGS AT ALL but 720p and 27-30fps :\

So I choose Win10 + 2017 drivers and DX11 in 1080p after all

WHAT!?

Are you for real? This is a PC gaming forum and you list your PC configuration when you need to troubleshoot, because not all PC hardware is the same.

Wow, man. And nobody "brags" with a 5 year old platform. Seriously, where is he bragging? Huh?

I'm actually starting to believe that you may even be jealous in some way. Otherwise why would you say something so stupid!

I'm amazed that some people can actually live through day to day activities with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ logic like you!
Had a similar problem but installing gold filter restoration (not sure if this made a difference) and disabling vsync fixed it.
what fixed it for me, was setting Shadows, Depth of Vision and SSAO to their Middle Settings. Despite having a strong computer myself, the game would stutter if i had those 3 options maxed out. so maybe try setting those in the video - Advanced settings to their mid range values
Many, many thanks, for me what ended up working was Depth of Vision and SSAO to their Middle Settings, as Aschroft suggested.
80% of posts here are of abysmal quality when it comes to troubleshooting. People, I respect your interest in PC and gaming hardware but ♥♥♥♥ like ". I would imagine your card has such new framework that it is struggling with a direct x 10/11 title"

... That's not how that works, man, and you're spreading misinformation that people might be inclined to believe and repeat. Stop it.

That said, this game came out in 2013. Windows Vista(!), from 2006(!!!!!) already had Dx10 and compatible cards have been out for at least as long.

There is legit no excuse for Eidos or Nixxes to stick to Dx9, and the fact they don't even care about fixing this should make you think the next time you hover your mouse over the "buy" button for an Eidos title.

Not saying games should receive support until the end of times (that's financially unsustainable), but making games work without having to implement OS-specific workarounds and hacks that render the game broken when a newer version of that Operating System comes out might be a good start.

Cheers for the moan. Useful. Like a chocolate fireguard
Just like your 'help', really. At least a chocolate fireguard does serve a purpose.
