What the... MISSING LINK?????
There is my first playthrough of the Missing Link, and seemed to be okay... until scene with Burke (hi Liam, Monarch Solutions is waiting for you). ARE YOU REALLY SERIOUS??? Go back for his damn eye and there will be another trip across all level to Queen??? WTF????

I know, it's 2018, but this ancient dlc ruined in my eyes.

UPD: I came to the underwater lab, and you know what? I should go back. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????

It's not that far back to get his eye. What are you on about?

You can make a shortcuts trough the ventilation duct, it's not that far

...and here I was, thinking I've heard every possible inconceivable whining about DE:HR and ML...:steamhappy:

It's not so far for the eye, but it is to Quinn. And after all go to the elevator again. On my way I throw stealth away and began to shoot every hostile I saw.

The fact that it's a long distance, it even has 2 hidden loading screens in between and if you've already dealt with everyone in the path it's a long walk, backtracking is kind of a problem in this game, even with running augs.
But I didn't, and I was hunting for 'ghost' and 'pacifist'.... *sadface*

DX:HR is good and hasn't such stupid ways to increase the length. But the ML... (X_X )

So did I, but it's not denying the fact that it's one of the stupidiest ways to increase the game's lengths.

Actually ML is considered by many -myself included- one of the best and memorable DLCs, without even touching the issue of longevity (length of game time and/or replay value). I'll give you the fact that it does entail some backtracking, but this concept (of backtracking) exists since the begining of the gaming space-time continuum, and it's not even that bad in DE:HR ML.

Off the top of my head, I can remember half a dozen other RPGs that had even bigger/longer backtracking built into their main storyline arc...

I agree, but backtracing isn't good decision in any game, and despite of ML is actually good dlc (I haven't another complaints except of backtracing) developer could do not use backtracing, it's not that necessary element to make gamers go back for the eye and Quinn. I saw playthrough and found I still don't complete even a half dlc's story. There's no need to increase the length so artificial ways.

I still think that it's just not such a big deal, technically it's not even back-tracking, its the next part of the DLC's story-line. And if you've been methodical and thorough during the previous missions, you would just be facing a few guards, both towards Burke's room and then towards Quinn. I don't exactly recall, but it wouldn't take long to accomplish this task.

Not to mention that you are in a confined space, you are bound to re-visit some of the areas anyway...

Edit: I'm trying to remember the biggest/longest back-track in an RPG that I've played, and it's a toss between Dungen Master, where you -thought you- had to go all the way from the very bottom of the dungeon to the very first square when you started your game (there was a master staircase that saved you some time) and UW1 and Arx, where you have to go up and down their respective dungeons several times, in order to forge their respective "ultimate key/weapon". At least Arx had the teleporters, which meant faster traveling between levels....

yeah, I'd completed dlc and now can say that wasn't big trouble to go back. ML is really good, and now I don't mind to replay it.

the dlc is going back and forth loads of times, can get time consuming and boring but its a dlc at the end of the day, and you need to finish it for 100% achievements
BlueAgony Nov 16, 2018 @ 7:00am
That's hardly annoying. What's annoying is you have to get your booty scanned every time you pass through a checkpoint. The DLC took more time than it was supposed to.

okay the scanning got on my nerves alot, i didnt mind the back and forth and it was easy when you knocked/killed everyone but the scanning made me think if there was a noclip option
