Anyone find the 'stealth' palystyle rather boring?
I KNOW..I know..thats what this game is..a stealth game. And I am currently on my 1st playthrough using stealth ways to sneak past guards, knock them out, put them to sleep with my tranquiliser gun

BUT....I am finding that a little..boring and its not making the gameplay very fun. Dont get me wrong, I am enjoying the story and all but I am provided with all these weapons , but I am hardly using tany of them. I have a sniper rifle, pistol, revolver, shotgun, machinegun and my tranquiliser gun...yet I seem to find myself knocking enemies out or using the sleeping gun...and I just picked up the crossbow as well! :(

If thats the "sneaky, assasin type playthrough" why are the guns even provided? I only used my inventory on the 1st boss...and I went all guns blazing on him using my mines, nades, emp, shotgun and it was FUN! I got to shoot and kill. And then it was back to 1 sleepy weapon. ...Also dont get me started on iventory space. All these weapons and I can store like a few of them which is kinda frustrating.

I guess I can switch to the all guns blazing style, which I kinda like...but this is regarded as a stealth type game. Putting enemies to sleep gains you 20xp as well. I mean, I MIGHT do another playthrough but its unlikely. And I would love to kill some people, instead of walking past 10 guards and a turret, or putting everyone to sleep.

Sorry for my little rant..does anyone else feel like this?

The thing with the extra XP - stealth generally requires more augments. Guns blazing, you pretty much need the dermal armor and that's about it, maybe the arm stabalizers. Stealth, you want the cloak, the silent movement, the extra batteries, the dual takedowns ... it's their way of balancing the game somewhat.

My favorite playthroughs were definitely the ones where I mixed lethal and non-lethal, run-and-gun and stealth. I like to adjust situationally on the fly. I'm predominantly a stealth player for sure, but there were several moments in the game where it just felt right to switch to a full assault.

If you go with a stealth lethal playthrough, you can still get the stealth experience and make use of a wider range of weapons - the 10mm and the sniper rifle both have silencer upgrades, and the crossbow is pretty fun.

I agree with you that the stealth option is not always the most fun. But it's pretty much a requirement if you're an achievement hunter (or even if you just want to get max xp). I don't hink the game has to be a stealth-only endeavor. Like you noted, there's just too many 'fun' weapons to use.

But honestly, the heavy guns take up too much space, and ammo is scarce, so I'd recommend picking a couple you like and upgrading them to the max. Personally, I like the revolver and shotgun for max damage vs inventory space.

Play once in stealth mode (just to learn the lay-out of the game), but then I'd definately recommend a second play-thru as a homicidal maniac...it's just TOO fun not to play that at least once! As long as you're not too worried about NOT getting as many xp/praxis kits.

(Oh...and on a side note...if you play the maniac route, make sure to upgrade Hacking skill (which is generally considered more of a Stealth skill). But turning turrets and bots against your enemies is simply a gas! Great fun to watch the mayhem from a safe spot and see your enemies die in droves :steamhappy:)

Part of the rant was my own fault of now knowing that I can get "stealth kill xp" by killing with a silenced weapon, the same as knocking someone out. I thought the only way I could get the 20xp was by only knocking people out...my mistake.

>I don't want to stealth.
>I have these guns, so I actually don't need to stealth.
>but the game is like, man, somehow, like, totally made for stealth.
>like, man, there's like, this magical aura that means I can't not do stealth, somehow, because reasons.
>so, like, this magical aura somehow forces me to always stealth, even though I don't need to, or want to.
>4/10 game, would not Rambo.

This may be a stupid question, but I can't figure it out. How do I know how much a weapon is upgraded? How will I know when I've hit the Max? Does the game just stop upgrading a weapon and the option is grayed out or something? Seems like I've been upgrading 10MM and Laser Rifle forever now, not sure how many damage upgrades I've done on each, but it seems like a lot.

You can only put so many upgrades on weapons. It says in the info screen how upgraded you are.

Yellow ticks are the default. Dark green are how many you can have total. Bright green is how many you have fitted.

ok thanks!! I am color blind, so I missed the shading of the upgrade slots. Now it makes sense.

not really, the whole point of Deus ex is to have tools such that any kind of player can progress.

stealth is often synomous with pacifist style but you can be a stealthy killer.

I love the stealth gameplay. It makes the game harder, longer and much more enjoyable than just gunning down every hostile NPC and rushing through the game.
Just play the game how you feel. Don't worry about titles and such that people give it. The Deus Ex series are meant to be open for you to do whatever the hell you want, stealth or not. That's obviously why you have such a large arsenal. If you like shooting people, do it. The only reason people might call it primarily a stealth title is because they may consider that the balancing and skill points was not well done. Stop worrying about things that don't matter and just play the game.

Also, it's an RPG for gods sake. Don't worry about lack of inventory space in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ RPG. I don't think you get this game at all.
