Mantis PICUS Boss fight questions (SPOILERS)
Soooo... thank goodness for this thread http://steamcommunity.com/app/238010/discussions/0/523897277925975852/

I thought I was doomed. I had taken 0 armor upgrades, EMP shielding wasn't an option, so yeah.. I thought it was hopeless until I read that thread and it gave me the idea of trying to hack the door and go upstairs. Never would have crossed my mind to even try it. A dozen failed attempts to defeat Mantis (Federova?) and I never saw it.

How different was this fight in the Director's Cut than the original? Was there even a roundabout method of defeating her like this? Run upstairs, turn the turrets against her.. too easy, really, once you know the trick.

Also, I never understood what the purpose of those valves were? Turned all 4 the first time, only turned one the 2nd time. Shot the green gassy area the first attempt and died a gaseous death... Never seemed to do anything.. Was it like the generators down on the level below? Could you maybe get Mantis near them then shoot them?

If I remember correctly the methods to defeat her are 6:
  • Using weapons and/or explosives, method easy/medium/hard, it depends on what you own.
  • Using turrets against her, method easy.
  • Using gas against her, method medium/hard, it depends on which Aug you own because Federova can follow you to the top floor and the gas must be used three times to defeat her.
  • Using Typhoon Explosive System, method easy.
  • Using stun gun on the wet floor when she's close enough and after weapons and/or explosives, method hard.
  • Using Server explosions, method hard.

In my two playthrough I used method number 3 and 5.

So that's what those gas "ports" are then? You can use them like the generators?

I do not remember very well, I remember that they must be activated each time all together simultaneously (between one valve and the other must not pass too much time). Having done this, the room below will fills gas, when the gas is aspirated the valves are reset. Of course when the gas floods the server room Federova must be below.

She always followed me upstairs pretty soon after I headed up that way. Doesn't seem to be a very useful mechanic then. Thanks for explaining it though, Comric.
