if for instance you are in cover and you quicksave at that moment
when you quickload back in the game doesn't put you in cover automatically
which in most cases will end up with you being spotted and alarms being raised as soon as you spawn in ( which ... as you quicksaved in cover.... clearly wasn't the point and that would then ruin the save :) )
by putting it under f5 you can't press it on accident
it's not a key that is blindly within reach so you need to press it in full consciousnes
------------------------------------
quickload for the same reason, so you don't accidently load a previous save
and like you said, most games follow that exact reasoning, quicksaves can be both a blessing and a curse
i've had more then once occasion where i quicksaved only to find that in the split second after it something bad happened and i died
now my last save gives me no more then that split second to prevent it form happening again :p
it takes lot of tries to get that one perfect moment to fix my newly created problem then
---------------
but yeah, despite the logic being logical... there was no reason to lock it in
and sadly i don't think you can change it .... :(
I've stuck with that keys in every game since.
