You can try playing with the display resolutions/settings via the game's "Set Launch Options", as explained here ("Command Line Options" section): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xXKMaroP1t18BXEKrl0YpFamg-ZN8wPk-vTt0rAq53M/edit#heading=h.c7snvg5na1md Try to force full-screen, or force windowed and max resolution manually (width/height)
I appreciate the help, but I honestly think it's by design (max 1080p)... I can drag the window larger and larger, no problem with the background. But as soon as I go beyond 1080p, then the background art (game) goes black - the UI remains functional.
edit:
I used the starling=false launch option to disable a renderer... that worked.
