(1) Ekkill comes along only if you take Onef. But, if you take Onef then Egil dies...
(2) If you refuse Onef, then Ekkill doesn't join, and Egil is safe from them.
Sure, call it whatever you want then. I assume you understood what I meant regardless.
Ultimately it comes down to what you want. A defense or Offense unit? Then there is the story. If Rook lives then Ekkil would probably be more ideal. If Alette lives then Egil may be more preferable for story reasons. But who knows. Having both would be awesome though.
The final boss fight already took away two fixed character slots. There isn't much room for an actual team building.
Sure, Egil is a great def character but anyone melee in this game can tank with str resist items.
Even without those items, player just need couple people can tank two swings from belower, not that hard at all.
Everything just comes down to story line choices, among which Egil's safety is the hardest.
Without wiki, I would have to play 3 ~ 4 or even more times to know how to not get Egil killed. Thus, this is the hardest one.
I just want Egil to live because he is a good guy.
Exactly, thats why I want them both.
I think it was some quirk of the system where I'd managed to leave town without Onef (knocking him out or killing him perhaps?) and yet Ekkill had chased after us anyway, saying he "wasn't above begging", and we'd taken him prisoner before releasing him later.
Either that or a very specific set of conversation choices between Ekkill and Onef that allowed Onef to be dropped from the roster in advance of chapter 6.
I wish I remembered properly, but it was several months ago now..
There are two little bugs that prevented the game to know Ekkill was dead in certain peculiar conditions, letting Nid and Iver referring to him as alive when he wasn't, but just in the dialogues.
If you could replicate this, please backup a save and exactly what have you done in-game.
