Editing the save file

Hey, i am editing the save file to have more Renown, when i load the game nothing has changed. I go back to the file and it is set back to normal.
I've went to properties and took full control and still it doesn't work.
Downloaded Notepad ++, gotta say it makes it easier to edit with but still no luck.
Any help? Was there and update to stop people from doing this?

As for the cheetsheet...i don't understand it. I'm not really computer savvy, Any ideas on where to start with the cheetsheet?
Took me ages to find the save files.

You gotta study more :)

Make sure your local-save files are not conflicting with the cloud save-files. Best (temporarily) disable Steam cloud for the change, or start Steam in offline mode, before loading the save.

Make sure you're editing/loading the correct save-file in the correct save-profile.

Thank you so much for replying, ok i disabled the steam cloud save-files by right click on the game on steam and ticking the option off.
I also went offline with steam.
Unfortunately no success. But...i just found out that it keeps reverting the file back to only read and that the permissions to change everything is all off. Do you know what i mean?
It's weird because i save the file, open it and it shows the change i've made but as soon as i load the game up it reverts back. It is like it just resets.
Any other suggestions? ideas? am i doing something wrong with the notepad++? am i to run some sort of script or something? do i drag this file over Banner Saga exe file?

Hmmm, I know what's possibly wrong: You're editing the wrong save files! The save files are your USERDATA folder. On windows it's someplace like:

%homepath%\AppData\Roaming\TheBannerSaga\Local Store\save\saga1

(just copy-paste that on Windows explorer). %homepath% is a default windows path command, linking to typically something like: C:\Users\<windows_user_name>, e.g. C:\Users\JohnSmith

make sure the file is in read only state after you edit it.

Did you find a solution for this? I have the same problem. I also can not use the TBS decompiler anymore. It worked in previous playthroughs. I went for another one to import to Banner Saga 3 and now I have this problem.

I checked the file and resetted into read only state after editing it. The edited values also stay edited after opening. After I load the game they revert again and they do not make it into the game. I just want to edit my supplies slightly to make it to the next town. I even tried subtracting the amount from my renown. I also did not allow steam to use the cloud save and started in offline mode. Im at my wits end here

It has been a year but if someone is looking for a solution for this. You have to load the game from the LOAD screen and not the Resume play. Cause it will overwrite it. That is what you get for being lazy. lol
