Double Tag
Okay, I checked the Wiki and it didn't help. What does the Double Tag do, and how do you use it? I thought these things were just badges to earn, but the Double says "Gives a copy of the next Tag selected (excluding Double Tags)." Which doesn't fit the idea I had that they were just badges to earn.

I guess you get the bonus of the next tag you earn, twice?

Double Tag is a skip tag. Skip tags are gotten by skipping a small or large bind and have different effects that either activate instantly or at a later point (for example, at the start of the next round or after the next boss blind).

The Double Tag simply gives you an extra copy of the next skip tag you obtain.

Okay, just to verify I am not being an idiot and understand what you (and I) said:

If I skip a round for a Double Tag then the next time I skip a round I get whatever the bonus is for the second Tag, twice. Right? I'm assuming the Double Tag only lives for the run?

Exactly correct. Would not recommend skipping for a double tag (or pretty much any skip tag in 95% of situations), but it can be nice to get from a diet cola as some skips go from being bad to good with a double tag.

Yeah, I don't skip very often. I figure each chance in the shop is fairly valuable (unless you are broke). Boss Tag is one I could see skipping for if the current Boss is problematic.

This is the correct perspective to take. Too often I see people complain about the game being too hard or too RNG and the same people also swear by skipping blinds constantly and somehow fail to see the correlation between their consistent choices and consistent losses.

Personally I only skip to reroll bosses when I think I have no other choice or if my build is already extremely powerful and I just want to skip to the end faster, possibly because I have a perishable joker. MAYBE I'll skip for $25 if my build is solid but lacking econ. But generally speaking you're spot on: Seeing as many shops as possible, getting interest as many times as possible, and using econ jokers like to-do list multiple times per round is always going to be more reliable than skipping for random rewards.

Yeah, the first time I saw the $25 skip it was very early (Ante 2, I think) so doing a skip seemed like a no brainer. Next time I saw it I was flush with cash so I ignored it.

OH! Duh! I remember reading the blurb for the Diet Cola Joker and not understanding it. Since then I have been ignoring that Joker. Now that I understand the Double Tag, if I see the Diet Cola Joker and I'm flush with cash I can buy it, sell it, and just know I'll get double if I see a tag worth skipping a round for. Cool beans. :D

Similarly, one of the unlockable decks gets a free Double Tag after every boss. This can be extremely funny if you end up saving them all for the late game.

Funny? How could it be funny?

If you get 10 double tags and then like a juggle tag, you have like 40 hand size
also if you get a ton of double tags then hit a negative tag, you will get so many negative tags that it'll take multiple rerolls to go through all of them, and if you hit a rare tag with negative tags to spare then you get a free negative rare joker
basically there's just a lot of goofiness that you can do :P

Well, you could earn $320 by doubling your money eight times, or win eight mega arcana packs, or upgrade a particular hand 24 times...
I had a hilarious Double Tag run. With the deck that gives a double tag for beating the boss. Was in a run going nowhere, and just started slapping double tags on Negative jokers. Ended up with 11 negative jokers in addition to the regular ones.

Ended up as my best run ever, single hand high score of 66m in one hand.

You were putting double tags on Negative Jokers? I don't understand that.

It can be fun to get a ton of negative jokers through stacking a ton of negative tags, but is never practical over any other half decent skip tag without a strong reason to like baseball card (which even then is a massive gamble). The best thing to use a double tag on is something that will earn you around $50 minimum ($25 investment, $1 per hand played, double current money) or in certain situations the +3 levels for a specific hand. Ones like the tarot pack skip are only worth if you have multiple double tags, and joker skips are practically never worth it under any circumstance.

Yeah, I am just missing the mechanic which allows you to use the Double Tag to get multiple negative Jokers. Is the Tag available to use when you get the Antimatter voucher or something?
