Why has Balatro been having so many small updates?

Over the last week or two,every time that I boot up Steam, Balatro has an "update" of just a few megs. 1.8MB this morning, 2.1MB the other day, etc. I've also noticed these constant updates with a few other games like Etrian Odyssey HD and their forums say that it's related to updates to the Unity Engine. Not sure what engine Balatro uses, but these seemingly daily updates have me confused.

Could be Steam verifying files or updating your cloud saves for whatever reason. I see this happen too, particularly on the Deck.

Balatro is made in Love2D, a lua-based framework, and not Unity. If you have a Steam Deck or a second device you access Steam from, it could just be Steam cloud syncs, otherwise it might be something like shader pre-caching.

Yeah, I have started noticing this. It seems like everyday I load the game up, there is a small update. Some times more than once in a day (like today). I assume some of them are small things like changes to the cosmetic decks. But it is pretty odd. As for if it is cloud syncs, mine is disabled. And the update downloads are listed by Steam each time. So, it is not just me seeing something flash by and mistaking what it is.

Three update downloads today. Either they are updating like mad or there is an issue with the interface between Steam and this game failing to understand when updates have been made.

I agree with this. I haven't had any updates except for the major ones that are announced. This sounds like STEAM file maintenance to me.

i havent had an update for Balatro for quite a while, whatever you are downloading its not actually a update for balatro.

It is something Steam thinks is an update, other than that I have no idea what they are.
