When asked to play a Pair, would you play a Full House?
If this wasn't the case, then playing a high card against the boss would invalidate all future hands because they contain a high card within them.
Would validate all hands, in this case. It'd invalidate all on The Eye.
Ah, right, my mind naturally went to the boss that forces all hand types to be different cause that one's usually more annoying haha
Yeah, in this case that would validate all other hands if it used the "contains" logic
Yes a DIFFERENT TYPE of flush than a regular flush in a boss where the promt is to play ONE hand type.
Five Flush and Flush House
It should be said that only the highest ranking hand will be counted as what is played. If you play a Royal Flush, the game is not going to call it a flush, since Royal Flush is the highest hand ranking. Just a simple slip-up like this is one of myriad of ways to end your own run. All part of the game's learning curve.
Technically Royal Flush isn't its own hand type, it's just a fancy name for a specific arrangement of a Straight Flush (and that's what the game cares about).
Each other type of flush is it's own hand type - Flush, Flush House, and Flush Five.
If you're actually talking about video poker machines, then I'd agree this a key difference, because video poker machines typically have different payouts for royal flush vs. straight flush.
It's not functionally the same as a Straight Flush, though, because it represents the Apex hand that you can never beat, only match. You can beat a Straight Flush with a Royal Flush or a higher straight flush. Straight Flush, although comprised of the same elements, does not carry the same meaning or weight as a Royal Flush.
“Straight Flush – This is the highest possible hand when only the standard pack is used, and there are no wild cards. A straight flush consists of five cards of the same suit in sequence, such as 10, 9, 8, 7, 6 of hearts. The highest-ranking straight flush is the A, K, Q, J, and 10 of one suit, and this combination has a special name: a royal flush or a royal straight flush. The odds on being dealt this hand are 1 in almost 650,000.”
