I should probably watch that video too. I have yet to beat Black Deck on Purple Stake.
A way to win would be to stick to Flush for the whole game. It works at ante 1, it works at ante 8. It won't work 100% of the times, but quite often it will. In this case, planet cards are more helpful. Consequently, blue seals are your friends.
As with other stake levels, skipping too many blinds is a bad idea and a good economy makes everything easier.
Of all stakes, purple is arguably the biggest difficulty bump from the previous stake level. Give it time, keep trying, you'll get there.
