i have SEVERE skill issue and wanted to know, what was your guys's first win set up (hopefully without set seed)
also unrelated but how do people get those joker modifiers like "unsellable"

you should look at some guides on youtube, there's plenty of resources available like balatro university
those joker stickers like Eternal and Rental start appearing when you play at higher stakes, where one may be randomly applied to jokers in the shop and packs

All the little things helped me. I'm very average but improving quick.
Advice from Youtubers (*Balatro Uni *& Beans Hambone is great too)

Ordering my jokers properly, constantly checking before i play my hand i have the most efficient order. (Cards too)
Multis on the right not left. You want to Multiply at end of your Chips and + score.(mostly)
Don't rely purely on Jokers for X, glass and Steel cards are game changers.
Use your tarot cards to get more of them.
Sell Jokers that are dead weight. Constantly look for better and more.
Look at the Joker Collection. You might be able to unlock some cool jokers if your getting frustrated not getting a win. Set some runs aside to unlock ones you think you can get without too much stress.

Two Pair is the easiest "powerful" hand: it's four cards instead of five for a straight or flush, plus it's supported by the greatest number of Jokers. Two Pair won't do a lot until you get some Jokers going, though.

There are setups better than Two Pair, but they are more complicated and may involve things you have yet to unlock.

A wise player pointed out that Balatro isn't Poker, it's shopping. You need money to get more cards, Jokers, and modifiers. Money itself won't win your games, but money gives you more chances to buy things that will make the win possible.

It is common to need many hours before you get a win. I had 20 hours in before I won, others have taken much longer. It is an easy to play, difficult to master type of game. You need to learn how the mechanics of the game work and how the various pieces interact with each other before you can start winning.

Old Lady Science gave a good brief run down of the major things. Just realize it takes time, think of it as having some similarity to chess. I can teach a reasonable person how to play chess in under 15 minutes. How long does it take to get good at chess? Years. If you ever do.

Be patient, try not to get frustrated.

Cash is king, that's how I learned the game. Early cash giving Jokers help you through so much and allow you to reroll for better stuff and open packs

your firepower and money is essentially same, it's just different form of resource
if you lean too much for power, like buy everything in shop and run out the money each time, blind requirement will outrun your power scaling
but if you lean too much for money, like hoarding bucks for interest and buy nothing,
increasing reroll cost easily drain your money and can't find anything for fit

This game can be frustrating sometimes...I think I enjoy it more by simply playing normal difficulty on a favorite deck, screw the stakes. lol

Can't even try that whole Eternal Joker + Madness combo because the game won't give it to me. lol
