Debug menu under Linux?

I found out about the debug menu today (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3232300941), and I tried to enable it. But now every time I try run Balatro, it won't actually launch. I'm on Linux Mint 22.

I tried copying Balatro.exe, right-clicking and opening with archive manager. Then right-clicking conf.lua and changing "_RELEASE_MODE = true" to "_RELEASE_MODE = false". I saved it, closed archive manager, had it update the archive, and then tried opening again from Steam. It tries to open but then fails with no visible error message.

I also tried running from terminal with steam steam://rungameid/2379780 but it gives no output.

The only way to get it to run again is to restore to the original file (I made a copy before editing.)

Has anyone else gotten the debug menu to work?

I've gotten pretty far in Balatro, I've won on I think 4 different decks, but I just want to try out the debug menu.

Thanks! That works! It does have a FPS counter in the corner that I don't care for, not seeing a way to turn it off. But I finally beat the black deck with just a little cheating on the first round.
