In the last week? It's because of the advertising it got from various game-of-the-year awards including our very own Steam awards.

I am not sure its really that good of a game, but its addicting.

This is only my personal opinion but I think it relates to the style of game it is, given that it's turn based and remembers where you are up to, this takes a lot of the pressure off, you can take your time deciding on your moves and leave/resume any time you feel like. Combine the addictive nature of the game, with the fact that it's very easy to play in whatever way you wish and slot it around other things and I think you have your answer.

Simple enough concept executed well, on sale.

Also got a nice bump with the Streissand effect off of PEGI in Europe being up their own arzes making this an 18+ game. Never mind no actual gambling is being used and that those accursed FIFA and NBA games are 3+ despite having paid gambling to get players.

It's easy to understand, looks and sounds pretty enough, turn based so you can chillax, quick to start and start over, and most importantly it constantly drip feeds you dopamine while occasionally giving you big doses. This game is the epitome of "just one more turn".

Has nothing to do with poker besides poker hands, which are used in numerous other games, this is a roguelite like slay the spire

It's not a poker game though, it's a synergy game and a natural relaxant
