I made a mistake
Hi, I think I screwed my game.
I was playing with my Steam deck before going to bed and when I was done, I put the console to sleep with the game opened.

Then, when I woke up, I played a game before going to work and closed the game.

I brought my steam deck at work so I can play but I don't have an Internet connection there. So when I powered it, the "old" game was still on and I thought nothing of it. But, when I came back, Steam says that it can't synchronise (the cloud is out of sync). I had unlocked a ton of rare jokers, rare celestials and other cards. I did my first endless game there.

Fortunately, Steam updated my achievements so, there's that but, my collections are missing a bunch of stuff.

Is there anything that can be done to retrieve the stuff that was basically deleted?
I haven't reopened my steam deck yet.

Are there two different systems involved here? I can't follow the narrative, you only seem to have mentioned playiing on Steam Deck, in which case I don't see where the problem would have come from.

That aside it sounds like you're talking about having gotten conflicting syncs from different machines. That should be a salvageable problem so long as you have't let the cloud sync overwrite the save you actually want - but you might want to back that save up ASAP while trying to figure out how to make it override the cloud save instead of the other way around.

Sorry, yes, I played on my computer before going to work (while there was a game in progress "sleeping" on the Steam Deck) and then I played on the Steam Deck at work (without internet).

When I came back home, the Steam Deck automatically connected to the wifi and Steam alerted me of the out-of-sync cloud saves. Steam seems to have prioritise my Desktop computer and ignored everything I did in the game from the Steam Deck (with the exception of the achievements which are directly managed by Steam and not the game i.e. no need to sync, it just adds the new achievements.)

So, you say if I copy the folder from the Steam Deck directly into the folder on my Desktop computer, it should be synchronised again?

Copied the folder from the Steam Deck to the PC. It worked. It erased the progress I had made on it but I got legendaries (The Chicot Joker for example) and my first endless game on the Steam Deck I wanted to keep that.

Thanks a lot.

Nice to see you managed to get it resolved. But as a general tip, just occasionally back up your savefile if you at all care about it. Steam's done this sync issue to me a few times (despite me having only one PC, so I just turn off sync when it happens) and Balatro itself seems to have an issue where it occasionally corrupts the savefile (I still think it's happens if you alt+f4 while it's saving, but haven't been able to prove it) so having something to go back to instead of restarting from scratch is a good idea if you at all care about the Completionist++ achievement.

Congratulations on your success! I couldn't have told you exactly what you needed to do to get where you wanted to go, just that making sure you didn't lose the good save was the first step.
