Like most card games, it also is very concerned with randomness.
Whether the game is worth it to you can only be determined by you. I don't even know you.
Do you hate RNG and getting your ass handed to you because the Jokers didn't fall your way? Then no.
There's a reason it's one of the top games of 2024. Easy to learn, hard to master, and an incredibly satisfying gameplay loop that will have you playing "one more hand" deep into the night.
It'll take some time for you to figure out how everything fits together but there are many things you can do to win. There's a lot of depth.
There are also a lot of unlockables, and challenges to beat.
I think it's very much worth the price assuming you like gameplay-focused roguelikes. There is no story and no progression beyond unlocking new decks to start with and new stuff to find during runs. Your knowledge as a player is what lets you win runs in Balatro, rather than meta-progression.
This game is the real deal though. I don't like deckbuilders, but I figured I'd give this one a shot because I liked the poker theme. Turns out it's really good. This is now my go-to game when I don't know what to play. It's chill, interesting and always enjoyable. The way all the different jokers and other mechanics fit together make the game a very compelling blend of strategy and risk management.
Do you take the safer, more consistent option that will help for early stages?
Or do you take the more risky option that would probably let you win for sure IF you can find the other part of the combo?
How much gold should you spend trying to find the last piece of the combo?
Or would it be better to change your strategy instead?
That other joker that just showed up is really good except you don't have enough money. Do you sell off some of your other jokers to get it? Or do you stick with your current strategy?
That's Balatro in a nutshell.
Are you unfamiliar with.... what card games are?
But I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with whatever the ♥♥♥♥ you just said lol
