Does this game have progression?

is this game just to try and get a high score?

when you go to collections you can see certain requirements for jokers and other various things. some jokers unlock after you beat the final ante. look around there and have fun

oo thank you! i was mainly asking since I haven't gotten the game yet. I didn't know if it had any progression. Everything from the gameplay ive seen I couldnt tell

On top of some jokers needing to be unlocked, you also unlock decks (15 decks total, same idea as characters in StS) and difficulty levels, 8 per deck. (Like ascension, beat a difficulty, unlock the next difficulty for that deck)

So if you like all that, great. Those who hate it can press a button and unlock everything in 2 second. The price to pay for that is to forfeit unlocking any achievement.

There are plenty of item unlocks which generally consist of more jokers or other things to find during runs and different decks that determine what cards and perks you start with. Beating the game on the base difficulty will unlock a harder difficulty similar to "Ascension" in Slay the Spire, if you've played that.

There is no meta-progression or anything that provides a concrete power boost for all future runs though.
