Needing some gold stake tips.
Idk if i'm too stressed these days and not seeing something right at my face, but I've been playing gold stakes with the blue deck in the past 2 days and it just destroys my soul when I make up a strategy and a boss counters it perfectly. I've watched some vids of the balatro uni gent and they helped me a lot making me realize I could work a lot more on my early econ and that actually helped so much, but when it feels my run is getting traction, a boss burns my house and kills my family. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

Don't be afraid of commitment if it means you can keep the run going (ex. taking a bad eternal such as greedy joker so you can keep up with the scaling for a bit). Understand what jokers are good and which ones are good enough, using something like the basic +4 mult joker or mystic summit may be necessary to prolong the run to get something better. Pretty much any joker that scales is incredibly good, especially on blue deck. Spend below interest if you are threatened by a blind, as ruining your econ to search for a joker/tarot to save you will obviously be better than losing.

Might all be very obvious to you, but here it goes.

Never forget to look at what the next boss is, as soon as you defeat one. Three shops to prepare for the next one, use all three. If you find Mr Bones or Luchador, you're saved.

Bosses never repeat in a 8 ante run. (And you'd have to push very far in endless to see a repetition). Builds that are weak to a boss you already faced are fine. Full commitment to a build that could be hard countered is risky.

Having some tarot cards available when facing a boss can be a life saver. A glass card can change everything. A Moon to make a flush out of nothing. Or the simple fact that you can get info on flipped cards by using tarot on them can also save a fight.

Usually, if you're able to play High Card or Pair and win because of your jokers, all bosses are made trivial. The exception could be Needle, so be careful. But then Needle is hard countered by a Burglar. So if your build is good for Pair and you have a Burglar, you are near invincible.

Very hard to guess what someone is doing or not doing. It's possible that you already are doing all I mentioned. But maybe not, who knows.

Thanks! 💕 Maybe I still have some problems with econ management and when to actually spend that chunck of money when I really need it.

Thanks for the help! 💕 I think I still have some trouble with when to actually use my resources to get that lil plus that will help me in tough situations like the one you just pointed with getting some info on flipped cards.

Tbh I did saw some ppl talking about high card and pairs and all but I have no idea how to make ''cheap hands'' work like this. I do know it's a lot about getting the right jokers going but it just feels like rocket science to me atm.

You're playing on blue deck, which happens to be the best deck for a high card/pair strategy. You mainly want to replace chips and mult from the hand you play with your jokers (though a couple levels for chips is very nice). Jokers that scale with hands played are incredible. Square joker, green joker, and ride the bus can all singlehandedly provide chips/flat mult and open up many more slots. Some jokers that may be difficult to use such as blackboard become incredibly easy to use, as when you don't care about what hand you play you can just play every heart and diamond and they'll no longer be in your hand. Seeing double is a nice 2x boost that is easy to do if you just go for pairs, burglar is incredible as it allows more scaling, money, and point scoring, stuntman is also great, as 250 chips is absurd for a downside that doesn't even matter.
