should i unlock everything before modding?

Everyone will have a different approach to modding but I'd say that the game is worth playing with and without mods and that I often switch back and forth between the two. If you want to try to get maximum enjoyment then I guess waiting until modding would help but also don't arbitrarily gatekeep your own fun with mods because of this question.
