I'm gonna be the one to say it: this game isn't the most fun.

Now before you get your torches and pitchforks out, hear me out. I understand the appeal of Balatro and why it won GOTY. The music and sound design are top notch, and the graphics are great and all, but the game just gets too frustrating sometimes.

It's a simple gameplay loop, beat blinds, buy jokers and consumables, upgrade to your deck and hope it's enough to get to ante 8 and win. The problem is that a lot of the time you get a bad seed and despite your efforts it's not anywhere close to winning. Most of the time I'm just hoping for the same old jokers and most of my wins follow the same build and strats.

It's extremely frustrating to lose and a lot of the time it's the kind of loss where I wasn't responsible for it, but it was all up to RNG.

And in the rare case I do win, it doesn't feel rewarding as I didn't win by being an astute player, but because RNG.

It was SpongeBob SquarePants who said "It's not about winning, it's about having fun" and honestly, this game doesn't bring me much fun.

There are many ways to play and win, you're only limiting yourself. Check some runs on YT.

I agree, it is addictive, but have I ever actually had fun playing it, no, and I have reached level 12 once but it is too obvious when you need a certain suit or have Jokers that will help it will give you none of these just too run out your hands, and it is not occasionally, but about 80% of the time.

This is like refusing to eat a new food because you assume it'll taste bad without actually knowing how it'll taste. How can you complain about "bad rng" when you aren't trying to experiment with what you're given? You don't know how powerful the options presented to you are so try learning a little. Fear of failure is your biggest limitation in roguelikes.

That's far from the truth, it's true that on higher Stakes bad RNG can really screw you over, but on the lower Stakes you can pretty much win with any combination of Jokers, if you hope for the same Jokers everytime you're gonna end up with exactly what's frustrating you.

On White Stake every seed is 100% winnable, no matter what Jokers you get, there's a reason why there's a Jokerless challenge.

No, but if you say anything and its opposite, it's hard to follow.

Also in terms of main points I'd like to add that a lot of the time the game just keeps me playing mindlessly and mindlessly going into a new seed every time I lose and I just lose track of time and I get really fatigued.

also not only this but I've also taken advice from one of my friends: after telling him I was going to get Completionist++ he told me I need medical help

I've never pressed R and I've got Completionist++. I think restarting is counterproductive if you wish to learn the game and to enjoy it.

The more you learn to adapt the more enjoyable and manageable the game gets.
