Is the Hiker a good joker?

My brain apparently isn't that hardwired into Balatro, so at face value I would like to think that getting the Hiker early on and then playing a lot of 5 card hands is a good thing, but can someone who understands the maths better than I do tell me if it is or isn't? Please refrain from calling me names.

I once had an Abandoned Deck with dual "Hack" jokers and Hiker. Had a bunch of low cards with +50 or more chips on them.
