Mods Not Installing?
I have been following multiple tutorials on how to install mods and get them running but nothing is working. No crashes, the game still runs. However when it does open it is just vanilla. No steammodded menu, and no popup from the lovely injector. I have deleted and reinstalled multiple times. Made sure there are no conflicting files, etc. I'm getting no popups indicating issues, its literally nothing is happening. I am trying to install Cryptid if that makes a difference, and yes I did add in Talisman. If any one knows what the issue is or possible fixes I would appreciate it. I have only found one other mention of this and followed the fix given but that also didn't work.
No idea where to post this so sorry if it is in the wrong place. I have never used a Steam discussion before.

I'd check to make sure you're doing everything in this video, it's helped me plenty of times and is made by the creator of cryptid.
Also I believe cryptid runs on an older version of Steamodded than most other mods, so make sure your version is from the link in this video.

I do follow that video, tried both old and new versions of steam modded. I think the issue is with the lovely injector because there is no popup on game open and consequently no modes working

Lovely goes here: D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Balatro

steam modded goes here: C:\Users\(YOUR NAME)\AppData\Roaming\Balatro\Mods

Mods go in the "mods" folder, too. If the mod is contained in a folder when you download and open it, DO NOT EXTRACT the contents. Just drop the folder with everything in it IN THAT "mods" folder.

Make sure your game is up to date, and you're running the latest version of both lovely and steammodded, and make sure the mods you want are compatible and updated for the latest version of everything here i mentioned.

If there is no command line popup when starting the game then the issue is lovely.

Check to make sure whatever antivirus you're running isn't quarantining Lovely. That'd certainly explain why it doesn't pop up.

Good point. DLL's are constantly flagged, but if OP checks that lovely is there and not removed, it's not the AV. I've had a few different premium AV's, but none have flagged Lovely once, so i'd be curios to find out.
Just an FYI don't use lovely as it gets flagged as a trojan horse with malware by a decent amount of firewalls. Aka might be a virus.

I’m moderately sure that this is the issue, but I don’t know how to check that. I’m not paying for any AV and idk what my computer came with, but I assume there is some kind of default. I’m pretty sure the issue is with lovely because there is no pop up on game open, which likely means it’s getting flagged

I'm not on Windows, so I can't speak with any certainty as to the entire process, but I assume it's just Windows Defender.
On Steamodded's wiki they have explicit steps about how to work around that: https://github.com/Steamodded/smods/wiki/#about-anti-virus-issues
Do remember to turn real-time protection back on after you (possibly reinstall steamodded and) add the exclusions.

I remember having to do some shenanigans with Windows security to install lovely, as it would work the first time I booted the game up but afterwards would get wiped from the Balatro files. I ended up having to temporarily disable virus protection, get lovely properly installed, then blacklist Balatro from virus protection.

The top answer of this thread is what I did and it worked for me (the exclusion I made was for Balatro)

Is there anyway to install the cryptid mod onto Balatro without steam?

What platform are you trying to install it on and is it pc or some other kind of device? There are methods that exist to get it to work on things besides Steam such as Android, but they are not officially supported.
