Aces & Face Cards

Aces should count toward Odd Todd and Face Cards should count toward Even Steven. What's the deal?

Aces do count for Odd Todd. Face cards shouldn't count towards Even Steven, and they don't. That's the deal.

I remember as a kid, because of their ranks, I saw Jacks as 11, Queens as 12, Kings as 13.
And since in all card games I played Aces > Kings, I pretty much saw Aces as 14.

So Q and A are even.
J and K are odd.

K, Q, and J count as 10s in standard poker. in blackjack, an Ace counts as an 11 or 1.
