Balatro CPU usage laptop

I have been playing since June, no hitches.
Sunday i played in the morning and then later that evening got out the laptop and the game was really lagging.
Monday it was the same deal. My laptop is an Acer. Nothing fancy. I literally only have steam/balatro downloaded.
I don't know why all of a sudden it it using all my cpu, fan running hard, battery drains fast, like full battery to 1/2 in 10 minutes.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I have bloom off and the crt at 0. I have tried with v sync on and off.
I just don't understand and can't figure out why after months of it working fine it is horrible now. The graphics are essentially like playing solitaire and I cannot figure out how to curb the cpu usage.
I don't know a lot about computers, This laptop doesn't have g sync or any sync that i have seen people talking about.

Use task manager to see what is using your CPU, it is very unlikely to be Balatro, it is very lightweight.

That's what's got me wondering what is wrong. Balatro graphics are essentially fancy solitaire and is using 92 % cpu

For whatever reason, Balatro has an FPS cap of 500. If you have a low-power CPU with integrated graphics, I could see it using up a decent portion of your available processing speed.
Issue is, nothing changed about the game in quite a while, and that high FPS cap has always been there. So if the problem appeared suddenly, it can't really be an issue with the game. More likely something happened to the laptop, be it some driver or OS update or an issue with the hardware. We can't exactly diagnose that with the given information.
Maybe your thermal paste dried out, the heat causing the fan to spin harder to make up, and the fan draining your battery. But could be something else entirely, too.

Thank you everyone! I think I'll run it till it dies and buy a better one when I need it. So frustrating....I know very little about computers but I do love Balatro lol.
