Worth it?
I'm a bit strapped for cash, but I feel like it's worth the gamble. Just hoping to get a little convincing :)

Obviously I'm biased (I have over 200+ hours in this game) but Balatro is definitely worth the price tag with how quality the gameplay is combined with how much content there is. If you haven't yet, I'd highly recommend checking out a video or two about the game to really learn if it's for you (The video link is someone doing a very basic playthrough explaining the mechanics). Lastly, Steam has a generous refund policy where you can fully refund a game if you have less than 2 hours in it and bought it less than 2 weeks ago, giving you short period to freely try out the game. Hope this helps.

Buy away. It's good.

If you like weighing the odds and then seeing if your choices pay off then THIS is the game for you.

It's the type of game that seems simple at first but gets better the longer you play. After a few hours of runs you'll start to see how everything fits together.

As you start to gain knowledge of the different options you have the game becomes progressively more and more interesting. You'll be constantly evaluating what to take and when.

Do you take the safer option that would help immediately but may not be strong enough late in the run? Or do you take the more risky option that would be really good if you can make it work?

That's the game in a nutshell.

It also has a lot of unlockables, challenges and a variety of difficulties.

Balatro is a 'true' roguelite though. There is no meta progression. You can unlock new decks to start runs with or more things to find during runs but nothing that will passively boost every run you do.

Avoid it at all costs, this thing is more addictive than dope

TBH... With the amount of replayability this game provides, I'm surprised it's not priced higher.

Yes, not into regular poker myself but we all know the basics and this game adds a very fun twist on it with the jokers.

If you're strapped for cash then you can just wait. The game's not going anywhere and will just get cheaper with time. There's also another major Steam sale in less than 3 weeks.

Depending on your region, it might also be cheaper on other game stores (though not all authorized resellers have good refund policies):

Your library and wishlist aren't public, so I can't really give you a confident assessment. I can at least offer my perspective as someone who plays a lot of card games, and who often plays on a budget.

Balatro is a solid game. It's not for everyone, and that's totally fine. I play a lot of other, more complicated card games, so it definitely got a little stale to me after a while. There's depth, but the few endgame-viable strategies can feel limiting.

Still, it has a way of really sucking you in and hooking you into 'just one more run' even when you're not really having fun with it that night, in my experience.

I say all these things, yes, but I do think it's a great game that deserves its nomination! It's at the classic 10-20 buck indie price point, which is always great, it just depends if Balatro seems novel and interesting enough to you, and weighing it between any other games around that pricepoint you're interested in right now.

took me less than an hour to get into, I'd say buy it, put on a timer for 1 hour 59 minutes and try it out. If you're not digging it, just refund it
I probably would buy it on ipad, this game should be played with doing something else at the same time
