A straight is a sequence of five of these numbers with no gaps, unless you have Shortcut which allows gaps of 1 rank.
Your original hand of [1, 6, 7, 8, 9] very much has a gap, as does the [6, 7, 8, 9, 14] alternative reading, so it is never a straight.
If you have the Four Fingers joker it does count as a straight, but the ace will not be scored. For JKQAA it does score both the aces, since they both work with the straight-of-length-4.
And no, Poker Night at the Inventory does not work any differently, aside from the aforementioned jokers not existing there of course.

Or are you trying to tell us you still don't understand how Straights work?
OP maybe had some misconceptions, house rules perhaps, this has been thoroughly explained, how Aces work in general and in Balato and I'm pretty sure he gets it now
Are you getting confused with a draw? If both players have a straight the winner goes to the high card of that straight? What you originally described it not a thing, ever, in any format of the game.
I understand your concerns about trolling, but Im asking you to view this from my perspective. I've played hundreds of hours of poker, thousands of hands. I've played poker in the Scarface game, San Andreas, Red Dead, Poker Night 1, Poker Night 2, Mario 64 DS, etc. And then suddenly for the first time in my poker career, a straight suddenly stops working defying every law of poker i've known to be true. Its a bit jarring.
Played 100's hours of poker.
Still think Queens are stronger than Kings.
Sure.
This thread should be locked by now honestly.
Got a citation for any one of those games' poker rules? I'll accept a screenshot from your own play.
Because I've linked the official poker rules and they contradict you, so I'm not sure how that "defies every law of poker."
If you'd like to go the route of citations and whatnot, I present to you a firsthand source; something invaluable compared to a secondary source (some poker website). My 'citation' is my firsthand experience with poker. If you're not going to continue the discussion in a constructive manner, please refrain from overshadowing other helpful replies. Best regards, thanks.
You're dealing with someone who thinks A4567 is a straight and also thinks that card rank order is TJKQA. After playing poker for 100's of hours.
Friendly advice, backed by Mark Twain, just let go.
That's not a citation from a source of authority. Stop being a clown.
