But it would be neat if there was an option to individually change what colors the suits would be.
Also non-standard is his ordering of suits. In Bridge and other games where it matters it goes alphabetical - Spades, Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs. But the developer switched the order of the last two, I'm guessing because he wanted the reds not next to each other when you display the hands in suit order.
LocalThunk has mentioned before that Balatro started out as being based on Big Two, which ranks the suits in the same order (highest to lowest: Spades, Hearts, Clubs, Diamonds). The suit order in Balatro could have been inherited from that game.
