As you said. You drew your whole deck, played all your cards, you had 1 hand left, the game tried to draw new cards for you, it couldn't and you lost because that's a loss condition.
But isn't Mr. Bones supposed to end the round as a "win" after activating? So it should have saved me.
The way you describe it, it's like Mr Bones tried to save you because you were going to lose to an empty deck. Like, the game wanted to draw cards, it couldn't, you die, Bones bail you out and self destructs in the process. But you still haven't drawn any card, so when it tries to make you draw again, you're screwed.
Best explanation I can think of. As I said, I did not know Bones would even activate in that scenario. Still not a bug though.
You had 1 hand remaining. Had you been able to play that last hand, Bones would have saved you.
