Wild cards and restrictive suit checks
I know so far that wild cards are affected by anything that targets any kind of specific suit (buffs and debuffs alike). I'm unsure how they interact with things like Blackbord, which only fire if they DON'T detect a particular suit. Anyone got the answer?

Wild cards are relatively simple: if there's a check to see if something can count as X suit, it will return true. The game actually doesn't have a "check if this card is NOT X suit" function, only a check if it is a specific suit.
So Blackboard performs a check on each card in hand: first add one to "total cards", check is it a spade, check is it a club, if at least one is true add +1 to "black cards". The checks both return true for wildcards, so if you only have spades, clubs, and wildcards then total cards = black cards and it activates.

Generally, all these checks are set up to be beneficial - with the exception of debuffs.

i've wondered this as well for blackboard. my current assumption is that wild cards in hand would cause it to fail, but that is a guess.

i played a game yesterday where I ended up with around 15 wildcard aces and was playing flush fives. the wild cards worked really well with bloodstone and ancient joker, definitely more useful than i thought.

That's very good to know, thank you! Then, apart from some boss blinds, there's no downside to wild cards, correct?

The downside is that you can't apply other enhancement, so Wildcards can't receive Mult, Bonus, Steel, Gold and Glass. Another downside is that if you build toward strong Flush with Four Finger, Wildcards may inadvertently trigger Straight Flush instead, ruining your high Flush.

True about the "one enhancement limit", though I was thinking mainly about interactions with wild cards. The info about how they might break certain plays is very interesting though. :)
