Please leave the prior version of the game available
I really don't know what to make of this litany of changes. Many of these changes appear to be a knee-jerk reaction to feedback.

I enjoy the game the way it is and I'd rather not patch and be forced to play a way I'd not like to.

Thanks.

Thank god, another player who feel the same. As I said in a thread I made last night. All these changes feel like a ''season'' patch changes. But well... the game is now beatable for brain dead players who don't want to put an hundred hour into learning it... :steamhappy:

You mean hundreds of hours of praying to RNG-sus?

Dont know if the changes of hand size stake was necessary - but the change of pack prices 100% is.

I agree there's no call to change basically anything on low stakes
Can't speak for Orange+, only beat up to Blue so far
Low stakes are extremely well tuned as is & this is not some PVP CCG
Don't care to see the meta change every other month in my casual solo game
Please leave the old version available as a branch when beta takes over

Yeah, I mean, up to purple stake that patch makes the game strictly easier. To me that's like whatever, I don't plan playing anything but gold from now on, except for white stake endless if I ever feel like it again. I'll play new challenges too if any are created.

Problem is, gold stake now involves 3x the RNG it did before. Through ante 1-3, it's pretty much a lottery. If you find a joker with eternal + rental, it's useless unless you are at ante 6+ and very rich. If you find a joker that scales but is perishable, it's useless >95% of the times. If you skip a blind for a joker tag, 66% of the times that joker won't be a clean one. If you pick a good but perishable joker, you won't find a clean version of it as long as it's in your lineup. Then it becomes debuffed, time to pray that you can find a good replacement in the next shop. Oh and you lost money by buying and selling that joker. Shrugs.

You start a game, you beat the SB, you enter the shop. The joker offered is something like a clean Hallucination. It's not a bad joker, but right now, it's really not that good. So you buy the $4 buffoon pack instead. In it, there's an eternal + rental Green joker and a perishable Ceremonial Dagger. Do you want to cripple your economy in a non recoverable way, or do you want a joker that is useless and should be sold right away?

Now you'll see only 1 clean joker for every 2 that are not. That's awful. But let's make it worse. Let's make pack jokers not clean too.

Sorry, what?!

At gold, all 3 effects should each have a 15% chance to occur on a given joker. It leaves 61% of the jokers clean. Still worse than the 70% it used to be, but at least it sounds manageable. Or leave it at 30% but make packs clean again. Buying a pack is already, by definition, a lottery. Pretty much like a reroll is. You don't know what you are going to get. There's no need to turn 2/3 of the lottery's winning tickets into a slap in the face instead.

About 95% of players have not beaten gold stake ever. No wonder everyone looks happy about the changes. It makes their game easier, Yay! But it turned the gold stake in a "dodge the dirty jokers" early game, then cruise to an easy victory in you were lucky enough. That's pretty much the opposite of what the toughest stake in the game needed.

Bring that 30% of each effect down to 15%. And guarantee that jokers from tags are clean.
Or just make packs clean again.
Or don't do any of that and make rerolls cheaper for ante 1 and 2 instead. It would fix so many problems for all stakes. I made that suggestion back in the demo days, even before the last version of the demo.

Old gold stake was rough. But fair.
Now it's rough, annoying and RNG heavy.

Bottom line, OP is right. Updated gold stake is no fun. An over reaction to players who treat this game as one that requires no skill. Sad.
