I keep saying this, no matter how many good jokers or cards you get, the game WILL manage to find a way to screw you over. On rare occasions do I ever win now.
You got to try it at orange stake, you lost. From now on you can avoid that build, because it's not that great, or try it again and pray for good fortune. Your choice.
I finally beat it by switching up to the checkered deck. I played the flush game early on and levelled it up barely enough to get past the blinds, all the while building my deck for a high/pair build.
I rode flushes until my pairs and highs were scoring just as much.
Grab tarots when you can and reroll until you get the jokers you need. Its better to risk falling behind with your cash over settling for just ok jokers.
Good luck.
That's false, but if thinking that way makes you comfortable, keep living in that bubble.
