I just unlocked gold stake difficulty which is to say I beat the game several times now on increasing difficulty.
My way of going about it is like this:
- I restart my ante 1 runs until I see a +10 modifier in the 'skip round' options. This is a massive help since it helps you clear all through ante 4 easily and rack up money. Mainly, you need to get multiplier or chips jokers early on.
- Your jokers define your hands so I don't purchase celestials until I have a few jokers and a clearer picture of how to build my deck/use it. The +10 multiplier modifier makes building a deck a breeze ante 2-4.
- Once I have at least 2 + multiplier modifiers, I try to get a x multiplier and +chips jokers. Multiplier multiplication is great, but those numbers /really/ stack up when you have additional chips and in late game that is the true purpose of getting celestials.
- The few purchases I always commit to are additional hands, additional cards in hand, extra discards, spectral packs.
- For arcane packs, I find that doubling $ and summoning random jokers is the most effective. The shop has randomized jokers but the arcane pack typically gives me better odds. I would beware the tarot card that gives 1/4 chance to modify a joker, it's been giving me abysmal odds.
I also try to stack up at least three x multiplier jokers. My last run where I had max ~600k hands had [+18 mult] [+4 mult per clubs, x1.5] [x3.25] [x3.25] [x2, + 50 chips]
I would caution against trying to play difficult hands. I've had a lot of success just running two pairs and flushes.
I believe in you! Let's go!
Am I made you made it to gold stake difficulty? You volunteered that information yourself so uhh, yeah. No logical sense in your argument there, at all. I could care less if you are World Balatro Supreme. Play on, card shark. You do you.
??? its literally the ante one reroll, you are insane if you consider that to be cheating. Seriously, you're bursting your veins over something silly you 'difficulty purist.' Go punch your monitor or something some of us like to have fun.

Restarting is counterproductive to learning the game. I wouldn't recommend it if you're still struggling with lower stakes. It just might turn the game into a boring grind against RNG. And it's not needed to beat the game on highest stakes either.
The game can be quite unforgiving to early game mistakes. And it's not necessarily easy to see how to get going. Once you learn how to handle the beginning, restarting for some skip bonuses on lower stakes makes no sense. Usually you're better off playing the first blinds instead off skipping them.
